FYI I just had this with Firefox (old version, 8) on Win64. Only happened once, and I was able to log right back in.
edit: I may have misunderstood, is the random logout intended, and the only issue people not being able to log back in? If so, ignore my ramblings. :)

I've tried logging in through three different machines on two separate networks. I've also received many reports of users experiencing the same issue. I assure you, it's nothing local to each user. Right now, community is down, so it might be Valve experiencing issues again.

Damn, I was logged out automatically again, and then I couldn't login via Google Chrome.
Do I have to clear the cookies and cache everytime?

Greetings community,
SteamGifts members are reporting an issue today with Steam OpenID and Google Chrome. When attempting to login, they are taken back to SteamGifts without actually being logged into the site. We are working on resolving the issue and will try to keep everyone updated. Until then, please use another browser.
-best regards
I was able to resolve this issue for myself and others by clearing my cache and cookies. Chrome works fine now.
