Simple, select only a few games you want, make sure they're fairly popular games though or you'll not be able to spend your points. Next, scroll to the bottom of the list (4 week left giveaways and such) and put your points in those. That way, when a game goes on sale you want, you'll have tons of points banked. Thirdly, contributing games means you'll be able to enter contrib-only giveaways. It doesn't filter out many when you only give away 1$, but every little bit helps. Finally, if you lose a whole crapload, there's groups dedicated to giving you a win. You'll need 700+ losses however.
