Recently I decided share some good dlc, that I also bought to myself.
And I was amazed at the number of people who entered, and won, even though they already had... 29 re-rols for 2 ga.
Big thanks for patience and majority of re-rols to jatan11t!

So, now there is just my first bundled train from fresh bundle. (till Mar 11)

Honestly I think some of those people don't realize they have the dlc, I've seen giveaways for games I own and my first thought is "oh free dlc awesome!" and then I go to double check if I already own it and a lot of times I'm shocked to learn that I actually do. I will say I have entered giveaways for dlc in the past without checking if I own it or not already under the assumption that if I had it steamgifts wouldn't be showing me the giveaway in the first place.

Either way, thanks for the train and I hope you don't have to go through so much trouble in the future <3

Or maybe they realise that they can mark it as received and the item and then regift/trade it. I bet there are a lot of people like that.

Not everyone reads descriptions, someone once did a giveaway for a game and an invite only giveaway for the same game with a link in the description of the public giveaway saying something like "go here for better odds at winning the same game" and there were maybe 5 times fewer people in the invite only giveaway.

This is exactly my point (also I really like stats like these so thanks for going through the effort and spending all the money).

But it's insane how often people just enter a giveaway and ignore the description, I understand it but still. Most people should at least glance at the description if there is one.

I really don't understand it. If you can click on the enter button you can read a description. It basically comes down to either the person entering is a lazy piece of crap or they are a poor excuse for a human being, either way they are worthless.

Yeah, but also consider that those hidden giveaways in descriptions are normally hidden within a train, which already implies that you are required to read each description to notice it. Personally, I don't really enter trains all that often nowadays, but when I do I read the description. And yeah, who cares? Better for odds for hidden ga? I'll take it.

You would think so, but there are still people putting "Thank you" comments in giveaways that the creator had posted "Please do not post 'thank you'. It could be that not all of them know English as a first language, so they may not have understood the description posted in the giveaway.

For myself, I always check to see if I have the DLC already.

I always try to check if I own DLC and hide already owned ones, but accidents do happen. For example I often enter GAs on my phone and I have no way to check if I own something on it.

I do the same things though, for me, Steam works via the Chrome mobile browser to double-check any questionable DLCs.

Well - I have pretty old Smartphone and my Steam mobile app I run on emulator on my PC station ;p SG keeps me logged in without logging through Steam. So if I'm out on town or travelling I cannot log into Steam now, because new IP etc and it asks me for mobile auth all the time. I can browse the store but with me logged out, which means I cannot see if DLC is in my library or not ;p

Odd that you'd have that problem. I am kept logged in everywhere (PC browsers, Steam client, Mobile client, mobile browser) and only ever asked for a new Authorization code when I try to make a purchase or connect from a new device, even switching networks. Of course, I am a risk-taker -- I don't log out anywhere either.

when I authenthicate my phone at home I will be logged in for 1 or 2 days, then it logs me out. Ofc I could always log in before going out, but I usually forget or I'm in a rush and too late to be bothered with booting up PC just to authenthicate myself on steam ;p

It might slow down some script users or bots but I don't think that would stop many people from erroneously entering DLC giveaways.

I put up my first and only planned DLC this week, otherwise I send the codes to the winner of the base game all the time. The way they are handled within Steam and reported through the API would just turn them into a nightmare.

Well, it's normal for DLCs. I always try to check if I already own DLC, but sometimes it's not possible. I'm logged on steamgifts, but not on steam. And with mobile authenticator sometimes I'm not able to log on, so I can't check. Of course I can do it later, but sometimes giveaway ends or I just forget about it. Probably others have the same problem.

Sometimes it happens, for example I won 2 giveaways of the same game consecutively without knowing. When I entered the web site I saw that I won the same game twice and the owner of both giveaways sent me the key and they said it's fine. I ended up giving one of the keys to my friend. But look, I can't use sgtools now. Happens.

Your circumstances are your own, so I can't say you don't have a reason you can't, but assuming nothing special is preventing you, you can easily remove your multi-win just by contacting one of the two giveaway creators and providing them with a replacement key, assuming they're amiable to it.

Oh, can they delete the giveaway after giving me the key like this?

If you can provide the giveaway creator with a working replacement key for the game you won, they can then reroll on you, as they would have from the start.

You'll need to contact staff, and I believe get the giveaway creator's permission, but with both of the creators active still, you've got good odds of getting it to work fine.

As soon as the giveaway is rerolled, you're obviously no longer associated to it as a winner, so you no longer can count for a multi-win.

In other words, you're replacing the key you took (but oughtn't have) in the first place.

After that, there'll no longer be a record of any sort [other than for SG staff] that you had the infraction to begin with.

If I already own a DLC it's filtered out for the future.
Same for games I would not buy - may others be happy with it. :-)

I've noticed there's quite a few DLC's which I have already but I am still able to enter, so if I'm ever unsure I'll click the picture link which sends you to the Games Store Page in the giveaway to make sure that I don't have it already. You don't need to be a rocket scientist or brain surgeon to check but I guess some people as either too lazy or stupid to do so.

Happened to me once, when I gave complete edition of Tropico 4... most of people had base game + some dlc... after 2 rerolls I decided to give it to guy who had half of dlc, just to get rid of it... never again to public which doesn't read descriptions.
