Do you think GTAV will get an actual discount?
Well, GTA V has been for sale for $40 on PS4 & Juan for months now (during various sales), so there's no good reason to exclude Steam. Although, if someone wants it badly enough and doesn't mind having a non-Steam copy, those have been on sale a number of times.

People are like "Hey, let's go full retard because Rockstar created a bundle with GTA V + $1.250.000 online mode cash for $59.99 instead of just discounting GTA V!". Tell me: What do you expect? A 25% sale on a fairly new game on Steam? Meh.

Haven't bought a thing from Rockstar since my old LA Noire hard copy, not planning on starting again. Being called a pirate because they fucked up and forgot a few files that the game needed to run finished me with them. $40 drink coasters are overrated. :D

Oh my. I still don't get this drama.
I preordered GTA5 and I would pay 60€ again, totally worth it.
R* is forced to discount GTA5 ? really ? is that a think now ?
Comment has been collapsed.
It's actually some € cheaper and has bonus money online,
It's technically discounted, but agree, that's not the best move.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's not about discounting the game, it's about faking the discount. They raised the price prior to the sale. It's a dirty sales tactic, and in most countries it's literally illegal.
Comment has been collapsed.
nope it's not, technically they added different bundles, the standalone game is still 59,99 (at least in EU2)
Comment has been collapsed.
TECHNICALLY yes, but in practice, it's even scummier because of that.
Comment has been collapsed.
Creating a bundle and setting the price of said bundle to be higher than the original game, then giving the bundle a discount is normal and not illegal in any country at all. Had they raised the price of the base game alone and then given it a discount to be the same price as it was before they raised the price, then yes it'd be illegal. But now they didn't do that and simply created a bundle that they gave a discount, 100% legal in every country in the world (maybe not in North Korea, but who knows) and not weird or "scummy" in any way.
Comment has been collapsed.
You couldn't buy the base game when the "bundle" was on sale. They took advantage of people automaticly assuming it's just GTAV.
The additionl "bundle" contenst are so worthless it's not worth more than the base game alone.

Remember, you can do anything when you're rolling in money.

Honestly, if they do cave in after this sort of thing it's worse for them and game industry as whole. Let me explain why:
While the discount was practically a joke (Game and ingame currency) for practically same price as game otherwise that's completely within their right to decide. At best, I'd expect apology from them for this, but not actual discount.
They should not, and hopefully will not cave in to these sort of bully tactics by gamer community because it would mean that it would get used more often to force prices go down in other scenarios than this.
Did they screw up a bit with this idea? Perhaps, I don't think this sort of "discount" belongs to summer sales at all.
Should they learn from it for the next time? Yes.
Should they instantly cave in because of little bad PR this caused? Absolutely not.

From what I can understand (I have only read the OP, so nothing else either in this forum or anywhere else), you complain that the game "only" gets a 25% discount?
If that's correct, then that's no reason to complain whatsoever, they didn't have to give even half a euro in discount if they didn't want to, yet they still gave it, so why complain? (If I've completely missunderstood this whole situation, then I appologize)
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm not complaining about the 25% discount, that's why I said "And for those of you who're not aware of why there's a lot of hate towards Rockstar with their GTAV "sale": read the reviews."
What they did in USD and CAD was augment the price, include the Shark card that no one seems to like and then say it has 25% discount (some are saying 30%) and at the end it's like 5 dollars cheaper than the original game. At first they had removed the option to buy the game-only, leaving the bundle as the only option, they fixed that today.

Okay, so a bit more content and a tiny bit cheaper everywhere outside of the US? Then those outside of the US have nothing to complain about while I can agree that those in the US have some reason to be a little bit annoyed. But since the bundle is just that, a bundle, and those in the US still can buy it for the same price as the original, I wouldn't be all that annoyed. I mean, they still get the game, while paying the same price as the original version while also getting the bonus content for free. Thereby a win-win situation even for them since they get, as sisyphus said, in-game money and, as you said, some shark card, without paying a cent more.

They increased the price, included the Shark card and then said it has 25% discount and at the end the cost is the same as the original game or like 5 euros cheaper (depends on your currency). Now, you might think: "what's the big deal? just a bundle with a free shark card, deal with it...", well, at first they had removed the option to buy the game-only, leaving the bundle as the only option, they fixed that today re-adding the option to buy the game separately with normal price after everyone started posting bad reviews. The thing is that doing that is illegal in some countries and you can't ask for refunds when buying a bundle.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's not illegal to create bundles and have those set on a higher price than the original version, and then set a discount on said bundle to make it cost as much as the original, no matter what country you are in. Raising the price on the original version and then set a discount on it, that however is illegal. But since they didn't do that, and instead created the bundle, they haven't done anything illegal at all.
Them removing the option to buy the game seperately might've just been a misstake caused by human error, and if not it's still not illegal to remove one version and only sell another.
Now with the refund, I don't see the big problem there either, unless the copy of the game that you bought isn't working (which is highly unlikely).
Comment has been collapsed.
Many people are complaining of having problems with the game not working. And making the bundle the only option available so that they won't let people ask for refunds on Steam's new feature is just a dick move, which is why people are complaining and they have every right to do so.

In Canada, you save $2.51 by buying their great "discount"
Comment has been collapsed.
In my opinion it's greedy to sell a 1,5 years old game for 50-60€ anyway.
So I doubt they will give a discount on it.
Comment has been collapsed.
the xbox360/PS3 is the 1.5 year old game, you want that one im pretty sure you can get it for cheap out there.
Comment has been collapsed.
A port of a game doesn't take the same amount of time said game took to be developed.
60€ is way too much. 40€ would be the upper limit it should be sold for. Plus possible discounts.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm just saying that it takes work to port a game, which takes time. I agree one year and a half is way too much and that it isn't a good reason for a high price, I'm asking for cheaper prices too. Just stating the facts: although it is the same game, it's a port, and making a port takes more than just a push of the button.

lets see, they have a top selling game, hasent been out of the top ten sellers since it was released, its literally printing money.
2k is that kind of souless company that likes money..
then why in the name of all that is holly would they lower the price of the game, they are not stupid.
Comment has been collapsed.
well.. is your job to be aware of that kind of stuff, buyers beware and all that stuff.
i dont want to defend a big ass company that dosent give a f about me or anyone.. but they are not doing anything ilegal or new from a game company... i just dont think they deserve all the hate they are getting.
also all this time you can get GTA V at GMG for 45% =P
Comment has been collapsed.
That's actually illegal, they took off the option to buy the game by itself at the beginning (fixed it today) and left the bundle as the only option, which also won't let you use Steam refunds.
And it's 25% in GMG last time I checked, which in some countries (like mine) ends up being the same as paying full price because of the dollar cost.
Comment has been collapsed.
since when is ilegal to only sell you one kind of THEIR stuff xd, wich offcouse isnt a human nessesity like water or food, it isnt man, is shitty but not in any way or in any country ilegal.
Comment has been collapsed.
they didnt tough, all the time it was up it was discloused that the game came with a shark card, and with the price labeled clearly.

It should be illegal that this many people comment without reading u.u
"First day of the sale the only option was the bundle, which can't be refunded. That's what is wrong: only giving the bundled option and not letting buy just the base game. It got fixed today after all the bad reviews." That's tricking customers. And it's illegal in some countries, maybe not yours but there are some, including USA (scroll down to "Aren't there laws about this?" they also include a good and trusty link about it).
Still, I repeat "This isn't a post about this, I was just asking if you think they would add another discount not asking about their dick move."

"That's tricking customers. And it's illegal in some countries" this is the part i'm talking about for it to be illegal they would need to be doing price gouging which they aren't. Sure what they did could be considered a dick move I will give you that.

There's more fun to all of this in CIS countries. We have the base game with no discount that costs the regional price $40 and bundles with the ROW price. For example, the bundle with the Great White Shark card is worth $52.48 WITH the 25% discount, but if you buy these items separately you have to spend only $50 WITHOUT any discount. Same goes for every other bundle. So for me there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to buy any of these bundles. As if there's no sale at all. Whoever made it happen is a total idiot.
Comment has been collapsed.
Now just the GTA V alone doesn't have a discount at all. Gg.
Also I hope those people don't change their ratings, this move, by R* is worse than those indie developers changing price, because they're trying to justify it by including "DLC" and also, they're giant ass company that has sold this fucking game 2 times already.

A while ago I made a thread asking what where your thoughts about GTAV getting a discount... most of you voted no. But "it did".
In mexican peso it's 614 pesos (~39 USD) with a 25% discount, but I'm thinking that if Rockstar pissed all over you and it's receiving a lot of bad reviews then it might try to make up for it with a real discount and/or without the bundle... right?
In my personal case I'm asking because I already paid for it on ps3 when it came out, so yes, I have paid full price for it. Nothing wrong with wondering if I can get my second copy a bit cheaper........
And for those of you who're not aware of why there's a lot of hate towards Rockstar with their GTAV "sale" or what I'm talking about: read the reviews. Short explanation:
What they did in USD, CAD and EUR was increase the price, include the Shark card that no one seems to like and then say it has 25% discount and at the end the cost is the same as the original game or like 5 euros cheaper (depends on your currency). The thing is that doing that is illegal in some countries (heard that from one of the posters here so don't quote me on that) and you can't ask for refunds when buying a bundle.
tl;dr: First day of the sale the only option was the bundle, which can't be refunded. That's what is wrong: only giving the bundled option and not letting buy just the base game. It got fixed today after all the bad reviews. This isn't a post about this, I was just asking if you think they would add another discount not asking about their dick move.
