Convert your Stadia controller to Bluetooth

Google released a free tool to convert the Stadia controller to a standard Bluetooth device. Only took a minute to do the upgrade. A USB cable is required.

After pairing it to my computer as a Bluetooth controller, it is detected by Steam and seems to work well.
