To add it on mobile just go anywhere on steam (the store page works) delete the whole address bar and paste this:
javascript:AddFreeLicense(1056611) you have to retype "javascript:"

Thank you Megumin :)

But I thought it requires to your mobile browser supports Javascript to do that?
Or it can be done to any mobile browser?

If that's the case I'll add that script with the PC ASF code part.

You're welcome @softbearcas =)

I think that approach doesn't work on Firefox for Android.

So does that mean that after 17th October, the "Free Starter Pack" won't be free?

Edit: Apparently after 17th October the "Free Starter Pack" will no longer be available.

Download the Train Sim World® 5: Free Starter Pack to get access to the TRAINING CENTER, a tailor-made environment designed to train you in the fundamentals of locomotive operations! Learn the art of rail across steam, diesel and electric traction.

Kind of, I suppose. Hitman 2016 and Hitman 2 (2018) had a similar "Starter Pack" that gave you access to the Prologue, and you had access to the first mission in Hitman 2.

However, you might have a DLC or two from previous giveaways that are "cross-gen" compatible (Train Simulator, Train Sim World 4, and Train Sim World 5 at least).

Yep. Those are the ones I have, too.

The DLCs are shared from previous Train Sim World 1/2/3/4 with the 5, so if you have any before, they'll be unlocked for 5.

Btw Xbox doesn't require both region links since any region you claim is for the game itself, only PS requires region link to claim each region's game.

That's why they are usually giving the game away for free. And apparently they release a "new version" of the game every few years but it's functionally the same game.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes, but they do import (almost?) all dlcs to the new version, so it's not a big deal - especially if you can get the starter/launcher pack for free

Well since the "starter pack" is really just a demo/tutorial and you still need to dish out thousands of dollars to get a complete game, I'd say "free" is merely a concept at this point.
If you already did spend on their DLC and you can use them, then good for you I'm sure. Still, most people won't.

I liked the time when demos were called demos and not prologue, episode 1 or "starter packs" and when tutorials were called tutorials and not "training center" because you knew what you were getting

Permalink

Prologues are better than demos though
Giving you a taste of the experience, but with a story that leads up to the game, instead of being a small bit of the actual game (compared to a demo).

Except that's what a prologue is supposed to be, not what most of the "prologues" are on Steam nowadays.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Right?
Not to mention "prologues" you need to pay for like "Soul Tolerance: Prologue" which seems to be 5 hours long but with no end to the main plot according to reviews... and was the last game released by the devs with no apparent planned sequel?

Permalink

Yeaaaah now that's a weird one, lol. Even worse.

Also, special mention for those "prologues"/demos that aren't even called that, but have some weird derived title. (Game, and Game: Something for the "prologue"/demo).

You do have a point. I guess it mostly work with narrative games though.

Too many terms nowadays just to do the same thing as the past ones.

Unless they make it fitting what those terms really meant.

DLCs waves

Comment has been collapsed.

This train sim company is dogshit. Every time I look at their games it's a fucking disorganized mess or dlc spam and games that mix and match. A demo that goes paid to play in a few days is also fkn stupid as fuck.

Permalink

To be honest idk how many DLCs they have in total for all their franchise games...

To those that complain about the thousands of DLC in these games, you are not meant to own them all. That would be like saying you cannot have fun playing with LEGOs unless you own every LEGO set that has ever been released. You get the ones you like and mix them together.

These aren't really "games" anyway and you are not missing out on anything significant by not owning hundreds of extra trains and routes. Without DLC, your train goes forward and backward on tracks. With DLC, a train that looks different goes forward and backward on tracks with different scenery. :)

Very well said. I'm tired of explaining it to people.
It is absurd to complain about.
Never heard people complaining about too many available car tires, books or movies or whatever add-ons.
How should that amount of content be all in one game or who should be forced to put it together for free.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Vanilla game is still a game, addons/DLCs are just to add different flavors/addons on it.
I mean... usually I heard people trying the game first then decide if they enjoy it that much and buy DLCs from it, like The Sims 4.
But rarely heard people buying DLC at start unless they're determined to get them for the game if they want to play it that much.

Either way, game could be enjoyed with them or not, just different experiences. =)
