So, i've got a little free time on my hands and want to occupy it a little.

Therefore, i will be helping anyone who has any kind of PC related troubles and in exchange him/her will do a public giveaway if the problem was fixed :)

Like others have said, choose one corned to pile your big numbers in, but I'd also add that if your first colums or row fills in, use the opposite direction for the next one. So, I for example concentrate my big numbers in the lower left, and once my first row is filled with, say, 1024-256-128-32, I try to concentrate everything in the lower right corner of the remaining three rows. Does that make sense?

not a monitor problem, many cause, poor cpu performance, can even be video card because of the aero theme on w7 or you have low ram.

Get webroot (antivirus)http://www.webroot.com/us/en/home/products/trials

Use a fake mail generator to not receive there letter (i use that on every thing i don't need to keep pass word) http://www.fakemailgenerator.com/

And check for virus,/spy ware, some can eat cpu ressource and make your comp really slow,

My skyrim looks like this. Same goes less intensely for other games(e.g. sanctum, natural selection, nuclear dawn). Nothing is overheating and it is not my drivers.

Yes,I expected errors to be found. Question is how do I pinpoint them and then how do I solve them.

Ram test check

VRAM tester, download unigine heaven and put everything on max. Check for artifacts.

Solve them? buy a new hardware

Sapphire Radeon HD 5450,if I remember correctly.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Apparently Catalyst 12.2 drivers have been causing some problems with graphics artifacts

One solution i found was to disable Anti-aliasing.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Turning anti-aliasing on or off it doesn't change anything. Same goes for any other setting I've seen other than resolution - reducing it makes this better, but I'm down to 640x480 in this case to make it playable which makes everything look too low-quality to be any fun.

Also,I've tried several previous versions as well as the beta and none seem to cause the issue to be any better or worse,so I doubt it has anything to do with a driver.

Card probably has few years, maybe there is no/weak contact of radiator on one of vram chips.
Dust also collects under the heatsink.
If you have such possibility try adding some cooler (or some other source of airflow) to the card and see if that helps

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I didn't suggest his since he said he won't be getting a new one soon. But if you're tried the above suggestion but still doesn't work and you are ready to buy a new one. Then try this trick also

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Desperate measure. Buying a new card will be most probable outcome of PCB cooking.
And I agree with the warning about not using oven for food after that. Solders are lead free today in mass consumer products, but are still nasty.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Unless you have a very very old oven around the house that you don't use. I think this solution is well ... let's say not too good. Use a 200$ oven to fix the card that may or may not work after that, and who knows for how long and end up having to but a new oven and card, or buy a new card with the 200$

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

As I said, probably won't work as there will be elements on PCB that can withstand cooking only by sheer luck. Getting right temp and heating time also are important factors

Personally I would do this and plug it back only into a throw-away PC out of curiosity to see what happens (and when)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Would be an interesting experiment. hehe :)

Comment has been collapsed.

Years ago (YEARS.. about 10+) I had this happen with a game. I discovered that this kind of artifacting was do to "not enough" video ram. .02

Do you have another video card you can swap out and try?

Also as a thought.. If you have enough system ram... pull ram sticks 1 at a time (pairs if older system) to see if you still have the problem. Just a couple thoughts... I don't know if VRAM tester will indicate which ram module is producing errors.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I suggested swapping graphics card on another computer but it can't be done.

Will do more "research" even thou` I'm starting to think more and more that the graphics card might be at fault and will probably need to be replaced.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

... or possibly borrowing an older video card from someone. Local repair shops usually have them laying around. Should be able to work something out without having to spend $. Letting my mind wander... ;)

I'm thinking about swapping video cards on the existing computer. Should be easier to do..

it is possible that your video card over heat ? this thing happen to me after i oc video card by 20 % (gpu is about 35 centigrade (water cooled) but the card can get to 70-80 before it crash(1-2 min))

I've got a hardware and software issue...

I have a Win 7 Home Premium x64 system and I'm having 2 issues.

  1. When I power on my computer (from a shut down or power off situation) my system hangs at the bios load/check just before Windows OS loads (The splash screen that Windows 7 is starting/loading). I'm assuming the system is not finding my SSD (C:) or the SSD isn't allowing the OS to load.

If I restart the system (power off & back on) reasonably quickly, the system does not hang at that point and the computer boots fine.

Could this be a power supply issue? I'm clueless...

  1. Just recently, if I leave the computer on for several days and then "Shut down" The system gives me a splash screen of "Logging off" and hangs... Never gets past that point and I have to power off the computer. When I start up (see 1. above) I get the message "Windows did not shut down properly.." and the menu to start in safe/normal modes.

Any idea on what I can do to get the Shut Down sequence to not hang at Logging Off, other than not keeping the computer running for 2+ days?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

For the boot problem, i think you need to check if you have the latest bios version.

As for the shut down problem, what programs are you running during the 2+ days when your pc is powered on ? Try to do a system restore.

Also: I knew someone who had trouble with his SSD before ... try to remove any other HDD that you have, do a simple boot and shut down using only the SSD, then plug the HDD back in.(not sure if will work for you, it did for him ... well similar problem not exactly what you have)

If you're running Win 7, disable Aero,

Run as few programs in the background.

Press windows key + R -> type msconfig -> under the Startup tab click on disable all.

Also Download CCleaner(use advanced setup and disable any toolbars or other programs that they want to install) and do a registry clean.
