Several times recently I've wanted to make a GA for an entire Humble bundle only to find it isn't in the system. Is there are a reason for those not to be added as GA options? I see that some already are. If there is no such reason that I'm missing, I think it would be a nice feature if new Humble bundles were standardly added as GA options. At the very least it would mean people collected slightly more loot from me.

Would it be usefull to be able to give away entire bundles?

I remember that there was this option once... But with the new Contrib Value system, why not just give each one away on its own?

Older Humble Bundles were just one steam key

Newer ones on occasion are still bundled [to a single key] by tier.

Well, sometimes I want to make a nice GA without spending too much. A whole bundle seems like a much better prize than individual pieces of it are likely to be.

But what you recommend is exactly what I have been doing.

I disagree
Most people will enter the GA because one or another game, not all of them. By having separate GAs, all games will in theory go to people who actually want them

Good point. Plus, people often already own some of the games, especially with Humble bundles.

Doesn't avoid the point of when Humble bundles several games to a single key, but in general terms, that's a lot more rational a consideration than 'Hey, win big! Sure you almost certainly won't want some of the games, but like I always say, "waste yes, want yes!" ''

I guess if bundles have the CV of the highest retail value game in them only, that'd be fair.

It's kinda a jerk move, in my personal opinion, after all, and it doesn't make sense the giveaway creator should get CV for something the recipient isn't verified to actually be able to utilize.

Counter-argument, it's not too different from current steam bundles, and even the more diverse of those seem to be handled fine.
Of course, those HAVE to be presented as bundled together, so that's a different situation.
Intentionally sabotaging how giveaways are presented is a bit awkward.

Moreover, what happens AFTER?
Since actual individual keys are being given, rather than a proper bundle, does the receiver get penalized for accepting a duplicate game? Do they get penalized for regifting?

No matter how you look at it, and irrespective of personal opinions on the matter, that just doesn't work with the site's system.

The reason steam bundles work is because 'nothing is left over', so there's no manipulation of the system. Everyone involved contemplates the gains and losses involved.

With a non-single-key bundle, it becomes... messy.

Of course, if SG added a full system for dealing with bundles [that I presume they don't have], that'd be different:
Have someone win a bundle.
Have them select which keys they want to accept [and are able to activate].
Have the giveaway creator receive CV for the activated keys only.

See, that'd work fine.

Be a bit of an effort to code in, of course.

Would be nice for sure, but I'm guessing it's limitation of how the site interacts with the Steam API.

All things that can be given away must have an entry in the Steam-database. So everything either needs an App-ID or a Sub-ID.

There were old bundles where the complete bundle would be activated with a single key. So these Bundles actually have a Sub-ID (even if they cannot be purchased in the Steam store). So there was the possibility to add these to the SG-system.

Edit: Apparently the admin can add entries in the SG-database that don't require an associated App-ID or Sub-ID in the Steam-DB

Yep, this.

Mods can only allow/disallow an app/sub in the giveaway list.
The admin is indeed able to create custom entries, but he hasn't for quite some time.

Gotcha. So that would be the reason I was missing. Thanks for the information.

(I'd still like to be able to do it, but I see why that ability being added is unlikely.)
