The hidden bundled game GA has ended! Congrats to the winner :)

If you haven't weighed in with your opinion feel free, I'm interested to see the wide gamut of SGers opinions, apathy also welcome if you use proper sentences ;) otherwise I'll assume you want to play the alphabet game!
See what I thought about the album here
Original post follows this line

so I was living under a rock the past few days, apparently Apple and U2 collaborated together during the iPhone 6 unveiling and released the band's latest studio album, Songs of Innocence, free to all iTunes customers

however it seems like a lot of people weren't happy with the way the album pretty much downloaded into their iTunes
thus, the first i pretty much heard of the news was when i saw a news article detailing the Apple tool released to REMOVE the album! lmao

what do you guys think of

  • U2
  • the album
  • the album release?
(even if you don't own an iPhone or don't use iTunes i'm interested to read your thoughts :) )

personally, it didn't show up in my iTunes automatically so I had to download it, but hey, free music :) I don't listen to U2 (only song I heard of them was The Saints Are Coming with Green Day) but I can listen to them if i wanted to

okay okay guys sorry about the non-gaming topic, there's a hidden bundled game giveaway if you're willing to search hard enough, CV $30.01

I always use iTunes on PC, and it never downloaded that U2 album, I guess because I'm not logged into with the Apple ID.

Google does the same with the Print tool app from HP, it automatically downloads and installs it from the Play Store without even asking you. There is lots of unhappy ppl rating 1 star to this app because of that.

no no no no no

I think that is a Manufacturing thing like Samsung.. but i think i recall this... but manufactor where suddently without you knowing you get apps like ANT+ and you dont even know what the fuck it does..

the HP thing is also stupid as

A:) who says i have a HP at work we use it sure and lexmark but i dont.

Nope. The HP Print thing is a default Android thing I think. I'm running vanilla Android on a Nexus 5 and I've got that HP Print thing.

Regional thing then I guess? I've never connected to a HP printer on this phone so it's not that.

i would put U2 somewhere between U1 and U3
haven't heard the album
release? more like force feeding!

U1 was surprisingly great, but U2 really took things to another level. The story and controls were much better, although U3 kind of felt like it got bogged down in the story sometimes. Wandering through the desert was a bit annoying too, even if I did appreciate the cinematic effect they were going for. If they do end up making a U4, I'll likely end up getting a PS4 for it.

i'm genuinely curious...when do you think was their last good one?

(remember i'm saying this as someone who hasn't heard U2's music before, so i might have an idea of what's good to check out and when to stop checking them out ;P)

I'm not sure about a whole album, but their song in the Gangs of New York soundtrack, The Hands That Built America, is good. The music video is also included on the DVD.

There was recently a thread here about removing regularly acquired games from your own Steam Library. Make what you want of this information.

I want to be able to add all f2p games to mine, without needing them to be installed. So much easier when I'm looking for something to play than having to check my library AND trek all over Steam.

Not interested personally. But people complaining about free stuff.... Meh...
Come on, it doesn't even take hardware space.

I was surprised when I first saw an album I never bought appear in my library, I was honestly worried that I got hacked and someone spent some of my iTunes store balance...

besides that, I'm not interested in the music and I'm glad they are doing something to keep it from showing up in the library, I like being able to play random on my entire library and enjoy whatever comes up. they should have just made it free on the store and let people navigate to the store page and add it to their libraries if they wanted it

i think i like your suggestion

maybe they could have done more aggressive promotion by doing this way above (opt-in to having the album if you want it) and sent an email to everyone, perhaps it'd be differently received then

at the same time i guess they purposely put it in the libraries automatically so it'd be more easily noticed haha

My thoughts:
1) It's free, cool!
2) U2 seems to have a lot of haters, and I may not be a huge fan, but I did like a song they did for a movie soundtrack (I think it was The Hands that Built America on the Gangs of New York DVD). So yeah, I don't mind it being added at all; I might even like it.

1) unwanted free stuff isn't cool
2) adding something into your digital account something that is free should be optional and not forced...

That's why the world is in the shape it's in, people are too stupid and lazy to do the work themselves. They'll just complain so somebody else will do it for them.

It's easy to delete manually, I'm not sure why there was a need for a tool except the fact that most people are much dumber than they think they are.

Compared to their other recent output, it's better than expected though. No line on the Horizon was serious drek, How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb doesn't stand out either.

Not a fan of U2, but this is just stupid.
I use Google Play Music, and they tend to give out free songs pretty often, but they do it in a much better way, you just click on the store, and download the free song from there.
How did apple not think of this wizardry?
