I mean... with 5€ you won't get a broken joypad on aliexpress

THANKS for posting the deal.

Damn I wish I knew it would be so cheap! I would order 2... Not sure if it's worth ordering a single controller with this insanely high delivery price :(
I bet it would still be possible with some coding. I mean I used to know people who could do things that weren't supposed to be available and it was working anyway. So bad I don't have anyone like that anymore :(

best gamepad I've ever owned
for 20e it's a steal
I hope this is to make room for rev 2 (that got leaked like 2 years ago) but who knows. maybe they are abandoning the idea entirely. it is a fantastic device to use as a mouse+keyboard

Not unless you buy rechargeable AA batteries for it. The batteries last for months, but how many depends on how you use the SC.

a lot, it's really power efficient
also the light on the steam logo warns you when the batteries are low

well, that in my opinion is a feature, because you can use your own set of cheap rechargeable batteries, instead of some proprietary solution like in the console controllers. I usually play wired, though, so if you take the batteries out, it becomes very light, which i like.
the batteries last a lot, but it also depends on what you are using, because the thing has haptic feedback and gyro. Compared to the x360 controller, this lasts easily x2

This. I much prefer replaceable rechargeable batteries. Unlike the Stadia monstrosity.

That's a good thing!
I already own rechargeable AA batteries, being that it's 2019 and all... ;) I don't need a built in battery that will degrade overtime, discharge while not in use, and requires being plugged in periodically for long periods of time to charge. I want to be able to swap in a fresh set of rechargeable AAs and go with practically no downtime!

I brought an Xbox One Wireless pad last month.
I've ordered two Steam controllers, one each for me and my son for £22.80. I could have got four Steam controllers for the price of the Xbox One xD

I don't know if this would replace my PS4 controller for gaming on my own. But would it be worth getting a couple for local multiplayer games? Any thoughts?

15.10 EUR shipping here, bought one. Should probably have bought two since the shipping costs would have stayed the same ...
Wonder how quickly they'll sell out.
Comment has been collapsed.
Nope, tried it myself, it's multiplied by the number of controllers at the last checkout.

Thanks, now I feel better about grabbing only one! (Friend said it would have been the same shipping so I was starting to feel stupid ;))

Wait a second: is this for real? It seems strange that digital items can lower down the shipping costs.
If you're serious, thank you for the advice!
Now we can't select the quantity, but I will remember this. In case it is for real, any tip about which skin/case will do the trick?

Case / Skin => physical items, https://store.steampowered.com/sale/controllergames/

Is there any bundle with controller (Game+ controller )?

Meh, 21.50 euros for shipping alone
Maybe another time

Lots of controllers have been abandoned, but people still hook up old model controllers without issue and, at times, with distinct preference. While we can't compare controllers to something completely static, such as furniture, it's exceptionally rare that software issues develop later on- and, if and when they do, they're usually addressed by the programmers among the userbase, if not by the original manufacturer.
While I can't say it's completely out-of-bounds to factor such a consideration in, it does seem to be a rather fringe concern, especially given the benefit of the price tag relative to immediate gains (within certain regions).
That said, there's other concerns related to the controller (such as long-standing hardware issues, game compatability issues, and general issues with the design as it relates to typical games) that would still make this offer a bit lackluster to some would-be purchasers.

I really don't think so. They stop producing it. But the software is for controllers in general and many people use it for other controllers like the DualShock 4, so I am quite certain they will keep it for at least the next few years.

I really want this but 25 euros shipping is a bit high.

Hmmm...
Estimated shipping: 13,80€
Me: "Nice! I'll buy 3, keep one for myself and gift the other two" (that'll be 30,30€ total)
<Clicks Purchase button>
<Fills in shipping information>
<Selects PayPal as payment method>
<Logs into PayPal>
Final amount to pay: 57,90€
Me: "WTF!!?!?!?!?!!!"
<Cancels purchase> 😢

Oooooh, so they charge the shipping cost as many times as the number of controllers you buy. Meh...

Generally shipping rate depend on shipping weight. So, 3 controllers will weigh 3 times as much, and the shipper will charge Valve 3 times the shipping cost by weight. Kinda makes sense, since that's haw the US Postal Service, UPS, Fed-EX, DHL and other mail/shipping providers charge.
Why would you expect it to not cost shipping per unit?

Why would you expect it to not cost shipping per unit?
Because that's not how it really works. You can check it for yourself on any of those services your mentioned (I just did it for the USPS). Sure, a heavier package will cost more than a lighter one, but it's not a 1:1 ratio.
Anyway, when I tried to put my order in they still let you choose the amount of controllers you wanted to purchase, and there was a little green button to update the total cost preview. Sure enough, when I did press it the controllers' cost was tripled, but the estimated shipping cost remained the same. It was only after selecting the payment method that the real final price was showed.

How can you bought 3? steam allows me to purchase onluy one controller at the time. i cannot add more than one to my cart. any ideas?
Comment has been collapsed.
Guess they may be running out of stock and are limiting purchases to 1 per user. After all, controllers are physical things and cannot be re-sold ad infinitum like software. :P
