What Does "Ratio" Mean to You?
I know, but since I don't care about ratio, it means nothing to me. :P

i don't find either of those things useful. same with levels. when i'm giving away a game to someone i don't know, i just want them to want that game.

The only useful definition of ratio, in my opinion, is the one using real sent/won CV, because otherwise, people who gave a few unbundled games and won mostly cheap "bundle trash" would erroneously be perceived as "leechers", while those who gave a lot of the aforementioned "bundle trash" and won a few high quality games in return would be considered "generous".
I'll spare you my rant about "serial idlers", even though I'd keep it polite anyway, it'd be a bit too salty even by Steam Gifts standards.

I couldn't care less about ratio, but if you HAVE to base something on a ratio I'd go with real CV. Here's why:
Say I have 20$ to spend, and I decide to use them on a gift for some random lucky person. Say I also want to have the best ratio possible, because some SGtools protected giveaways and groups won't let me in otherwise.
So my choice is this: get a 20$ game that the winner will (hopefully) actually enjoy, or buy 20 crap games that cost 1$ each and get a +20 to my sent games, but the winner will just leave them in his library and never touch them. What's better?
If you go by number of sent vs number of won, you reward giving away lots of crap games. If you go by CV, you reward giving away good games and even unbundled ones that the winner may actually want.

Oh look, a secret!
P...O...T...A.... wait, I see where this is going ;)
I like bludshade's opinion. Someone who has a great time playing every game won is fine in my book even if he hasn't given much, while someone else with the same ratio but every win has 2 hours and no achievements makes me sad.

I thought it was clever but I now regret leaving any options besides the 2 because ~30% have chosen that.
Were it not there, would those that voted for it not voted at all, picked something just to answer, or picked their first thought when they read "ratio" ... I guess we'll never know

Do you remember when comments:won or comments:entered ratio was a thing? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

GIfts Sent/Gifts won if i HAD to pick one, but I'd rather not.
So i picked the 3rd option because ratio means nothing to me. I don't care about ratio. This is steamgifts. A site where you give.
Not SG tools. A site where you get to discriminate someone based on how much they can afford to/have chosen to give compared to how lucky they've been. That just screws over the luckier of us. (Which I do not qualify as, so this is not me defending myself.)

Real CV is the measure by which this site ranks us, so it seems the most "legit" value to use for a ratio calculation to me. (somebody could give away 10000 copies of a 99 cent game but only get like $13 real CV from that.)
It would be nice if real CV were more easily visible without external tools), though the level system at least gives us a big clue. Because I don't bother with making sgtools giveaways, I just use level filters on my public giveaways when I want to exclude the riff-raff... :)

Guess I'm not very active in the forums. :P I personally couldn't care less about ratio and you'll rarely even see me restrict one of my giveaways by level (I find levels and ratio retarded).

Whenever I've seen anyone talk about ratio I've always taken it to mean "Real CV Sent : Real CV Won" so that's the option I picked in the poll.
For me personally it would mean "Gifts Sent : Gift Won" if I were to keep checking people's ratio. And I specifically mean the numbers of sent/won, not the value. That's simply because I don't think the value is ever correct for anyone, it's never as high as SG says and rarely as low as SGTools would say, but falls somewhere in-between of the two.

I thought I knew what ratio was, at least I had my personal definition of it based on past SGTools rules I had come across. However, I was recently told by someone that they, "[n]ever seen someone here talk about ratio that way."
As to not sway the poll in one way or the other, I won't reveal what I thought it meant. I would expect it to be 1 or 2 options, but I have included the
requiredpotato option for other ideas. If you think it should be inverse (Won:Sent), please choose the appropriate option and mention why you are so negative :P
Please share your thoughts! No GA at the moment so the discussion isn't filled with empty bumps.
EDIT: It seems a lot of people are interpreting this post about caring about ratio. That is not accurate, I am strictly asking what you think it means.
EDIT2: Updated title to try to better reflect this
