EA is in charge. Nothing will be patched. The campaign is still helluva fun so if you don't mind not having MP, which is weak anyway, go for it.

And here is a problem. This is pretty much the only GFWL game which focuses highly on singleplayer and yet that uses Module Authentication, which means - you can't use a local profile with it. The only way you can play it offline, is when you register it and download the profile (at least that's what PCGW states). However, once GFWL gets shut down on July, 2014 - you are going to be out of luck, if you decide to install it (servers will be down and you can't create local profile).
Oh how nicely this DRM policy stands with Epic bitching that the game didn't sell because of piracy on PCs.... oh please...

Pirates have been playing it offline without any of that since the game launched. The patches are already out there on the net, no need to worry about any GFWL game (in offline mode).

I think we can all agree that we shouldn't have to rely on cracks to play our legitimately purchased games

I think you missed my post right above yours.
People have been playing this game offline with a crack since it was released.

Which law enforcement agency is going to come to your home and arrest you for the crime of "circumventing DRM" --- for a DRM that no longer exists?

And this is the truth, if you bought a game you are fully allowed to ilegally download it ^_^
So prob what i will go for.

This game is region locked for me and it is a pain "buying" it because i need to trade it, and now i dont even know if i will be able to play it when i have some time because GFWL piece of crap that even when it dies it stills screwing peoples life. In the other hand i have a pirate copy of the game just at my right of the desk which i decided not to play so instead i bought the game on Steam on a sale. I am sorry but that non original copy is becoming very tempting, i don
t want to pirate games any more (and haven`t in some time now) but when companies do this stupid shit what the fuck do they expect?

As far as I know that's a EA game and it has no GFWL on Origin.
Since EA no longer supports Steam (or Steam no longer supports EA games, take it any way you like), best chances are that the game won't be patched.
Best case scenario, in case I am wrong and there is a GFWL on Origin version, they will patch that one only to make you buy it on Origin. And many will (me included), especially since it's not region locked on Origin.

If you get it on steam, I think you can get a free copy on your origin account. All games that are published by EA on steam can be redeemed on origin as well by finding cd key or contacting origin support. A long as origin version doesn't require GFWL, you are good to play it on origin. EA is not a problem.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it as long as you keep GFWL installed?
Comment has been collapsed.
Not what I meant. If for some reason you need to uninstall GFWL, you won't be able to use this "trick", is what I asked. Assuming the GFWL servers are down (aka, you are "offline" forever).

I cannot figure out what you're asking. While GFWL is uninstalled you can't play Bulletstorm, when you reinstall you can. Nothing will be lost as long as you setup a profile, since it is not stored locally, despite the name. The naming conventions of these accounts also have me confused.
Anyway, here is an "official" explanation.

Until recently, Fable 3 was "still on Steam". But during and right after a Fable 3 sale, some shit happened, people were unable to play it, and only after 1-2 weeks (maybe more) Steam took it down from the storefront.

As usual I have to point out that the GFWL shutdown has not been officially confirmed. A message was leaked suggesting it - with no details on what exactly would happen - and was then removed, and the only official info I can find after that is that Microsoft confirmed the shutdown of Age of Empires Online, but declined to comment on GFWL. It's ridiculous that many people and sites are reporting the GFWL shutdown as if it's guaranteed to happen. Yes, games have moved away from GFWL - primarily so they can continue to sell new copies and DLC since the marketplace closed - and it's generally not a good idea to buy GFWL based games with the intent of being able to play them after the supposed shutdown, but Microsoft's lack of an official comment on the matter suggests that they're waiting to gauge the effects of a potential shutdown, and it's possible they'll end up making some kind of compromise such as disabling multiplayer servers but keeping key activation online, or an update that connects GFWL functions to some new replacement service that they're working on.

If it wasn't going to close down Microsoft would have denied the 'rumors' by now. Some of GFWL aren't even working properly anymore and if all developers and publishers are refusing to put it in their new games and (the ones who bother) are patching it out it must be because they have insider info on this and know for a fact that it really is shutting down.

Of course, that already happened and Microsoft only officially announced it a month before it, I think. I'm not saying the same won't happen with GFWL (functionality is definitely being removed, at the very least), but when all we have to go on is one vague leaked, removed and unconfirmed message, and a couple of similarly vague messages from publishers/developers, it's not a definite thing. I wouldn't mind if people said it's likely, or probable, and I strongly advise against buying GFWL games unless there's already a no-GFWL patch or people don't intend to play them after July 2014, but there's no solid proof for saying that it's definitely going to shut down and everything will be suddenly unplayable.

as a subber to aoe online i know the shutdown notice said aoe online will be shutdown july 1 2014 when the GFWL servers are taken down, buying premium stuff was shut off when the GFWL shop was shutdown so yes M$ have confirmed GFWL is being put out of our misery

"We're discussing it internally." iFlak is someone from Epic. I believe this is all the info there is right now.

It's not about playing, it's about carrying it on your inventory to show off. Some collectors pay A LOT to get that removed games ^^

That 75% sale smells like one last 'money squish' before the game be thrown into the garbage bin.
