well now I've got a laptop since I had to fuck off to university. It runs most everything pretty well.
Back in the day we had a computer that the same amount power as a toaster. It would overheat and blue screen after 20 minutes of use as well.

Nope. I remember the days of running Half-Life in 320 * 240.

I have a decent laptop that can run anything Nvidia or Source on really good settings (except Just Cause 2, that lags if I put the settings up).

Never happens, always mid / low for me and happy with it.

Epiphany? Why am I complaining if I can run BF3 on high? =/

lol no. I'm happy if my Intel HD card can run a game on low

This one takes the cake for me: I have DirectX 11, but Source Filmmaker won't run because it thinks I don't have DirectX 9.

I've had the DX9 runtimes for years and other DX9 games work fine.

Yes, but I will be picking up an extra gtx 650 ti in a couple months.

that moment when i cant run a game on max settings?, has happened to me about 80% of the time.
moment when i cant even run it?, about 50% of the time.
i have learned to live with my skyrim on 15 fps normally (and 5 when stuff like fire gets on my way), yeah, a game that can run at a minimum of 15 fps is enough for me, i find it often funny when people complain about not running it for more than 30 fps, 30 fps would be like paradise to me

More like "that disappointing moment when you must run game on medium/low settings because optimalization sucks"

Had Mac, couldn't run anything on lowest. Got PC, can run everything on highest.
I no longer know that feel.

Yep, happens with most games because I have a two year old laptop with crappy integrated graphics. I'm lucky to get low settings in some games, much less max.

Hmm nope...that was back before I had a laptop with integrated card. I'm happy enough if I can run heavy 3D games (like Fallout) in 15 FPS.
Now that I own a laptop with better dedicated card...I can say I'm slightly disappointed if I can't run at max, but no biggie.

(2011) Decided to buy Battlefield, tried out max settings, unplayable, realize I'm too poor to buy a new computer. Anyways, doesn't matter to me, Battlefield 3 looks sexy on any setting =P (sour grapes).
