While scrolling through the games in the current weeklong deal on Steam Reignfall caught my eye. It seems to have some quite enthusiastic positive reviews, not just the 'it's okay for the low price' types.

Have you ever found some obscure very cheap titles on the Steam store that turned out to be great? Would love to hear recommendations.

HERE is a very short train including Reignfall ending in about 12 hours. If there is a problem with the custom sgtools ruleset please let me know. (Intention is to let everyone with no recent VAC bans and multiple wins to join if they won less than 11 games or have a better than 0.33 sent/won RCV ratio.) First time I tried to do a custom one.

Edit: stupidly linked to my Reignfall GA instead of the Reignfall Steam store page at first. Checked the few people who entered the train through that and you should all be able to pass the rulecheck, I think. Please go through the sgtools link so yours don't come up as invalid entries. Thanks a lot and sorry about the inconvenience.

I can enter the train, so your sgtools check should be fine.
Thanks and bump!

While I like the retro graphics, I don't think the game itself is my cup of tea. Thank you for the mini-train, however.

Have a great weekend!

Thanks for making this thread and the train. When I launched the Steam metagame for the first time there were about 7,000 games on offer - not all of them good. Six years later we are flooded with eight times this amount and let's face it most of these games are trash. But there's a very handy sonar to peek through these murky waters.

Set SteamDB rating to 70%+ and you get a clearer impression what's worth considering to buy. By using this method I already own all of the games in your train but one.

https://steam250.com/hidden_gems if you want to go really niche, this is a good list to start. Just be sure to check if the game is in English :D

50 years is fun, can confirm :) Would be perfect on mobile. A game I'd like to recommend is Golf Peaks, a really sweet, deceptively simple puzzler. I did not get it on Steam (it was in the itch.io Racial Justice Bundle) but it's got great audiovisuals, and simultaneously manages to be brain melting and relaxing

Thanks for the recommendation .Puzzle games tend to be cheap so the better ones are great value for money. I've been playing ISLANDERS and Paper Train Traffic lately. The first one is not obscure at all ofc but Paper Train Traffic might be.

Islanders was too easy for me, I needed to actively try not to fulfill the point requirements. I'd love something like it but harder. I'll have a look at Paper Train Traffic though :)

Yes, it's easy. I like city builders so it's a nice relaxing game for me. Further along that path is Townscaper which might not even qualify as a game really but it's incredibly satisfying to build in.

Those are my own finds. For a good list of interesting and usually cheap games I recommend IndieGems curator.

Wishlisted the first one and a few more from that curator's list. Thank you.

Reignfall is still one of the games, that looks unique enough with good reviews to be interesting, but looks weird enough to not be sure about it
