For those who do not know what the GDQ events are, here is a summary to it (copied from their homepage):

Games Done Quick is a series of charity video game marathons. These events feature high-level play by speedrunners raising money for charity. Games Done Quick has teamed up with several charities in its six-year history, such as Doctors Without Borders and the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

If you are curious to what games will be played this event and their respective start dates/times (time specified on the site will adjust according to your time zone), check the link here: AGDQ 2017 Schedule

For those interested to know how much these events have already raised, here is a wikipedia page to refer: GDQ Wiki Page

For other FAQs about the event, please refer to this page on their site: GDQ FAQs

Also, as my contribution to help and spread information about the great things that the speedrunning community has brought, I'd like to extend my efforts also by making a GIVEAWAY TRAIN with 150 giveaways!.

The giveaway train will be open for all levels (rule breakers, however, will be prohibited from entering the giveaways. The checking will be done using the SGTools site) and will end approximately a few hours before the event ends. For those blacklisted, please leave a comment below and I'll remove you from the list.

GET IN THE TRAIN

The bumps for the thread are appreciated so that we can maximize publicity and spread the event for others to know. Thanks! <3

P.S. - Special thanks to @Oppenh4imer for his giveaway! It's listed on the first comment.

P.S. 2 - Thank you very much for all of the bumps! :)

I have more upcoming special giveaways for those who specifically read the descriptions. Please look forward to it! :)

The train was so amazing it made me lookup if it's actually possible in reality. The answer is yes, but certainly not with one locomotive:

The record was set on june 21, 2001 in western Australia between newman and port headland, a distance of 275km (170 miles) and the train consisted of 682 loaded iron ore wagons and 8 GE AC6000 locomotives giving a gross weight of almost 100,000 tonnes and moved 82,262 tonnes of ore, the train was 7.353 km (4.568 miles) long.
BHP iron ore did this to test locotrol which is where locomotives are evenly placed along the length of the train.
The locotrol setup was 2 locos-166 wagons, 2 locos-168 wagons, 2 locos-168 wagons, 1 loco-180 wagons then the last locomotive on the back.

Thank you!
