What do you think?
I've been testing it for awhile. I didn't care for it at first, but I love it now :)
There were still some annoying bugs happening yesterday before launch so i was kinda surprised to see it go live already. The dev/publisher home pages seem great and I haven't encountered any bugs, I thought that feature would of been out before the new chat system.

If you update to the new Steam Client, your microphone is automatically set to "Open Mic" within the new chat-mode. Meaning if you don't change it to "Push-to-Talk", then everybody you chat with can hear what you are saying. I recommend to change it immediately.
In addition to this, you can no longer go offline in "Friends", you can just set yourself to "Invisible".

Invisible is better, since you show as offline but it won't actually function as if you are really offline. You can chat normally with anyone. I am pretty much permanently set to invisible and I prefer it over being always being set to offline, which I used before this change.

I usually set myself to "Away", because I don't want people to know if I am there or afk. I want to choose myself if I answer someone immediately or not. But some people seem to think they have the right to get an answer from me, if they see I'm online. So they write multiple messages and that can get pretty annoying. ^^ Invisible might be a good alternative to Away.

Thanks for the heads-up... What the hell were they thinking? :s

I've been using the Beta for a while now. They needed more time in the beta oven before pushing it out to everyone. A lot of things are still broken or annoying. You can't set a default state when starting Steam like before. I used to have it set to be offline because sometimes I just want to fire up Steam and play something alone. Now it just remembers your previous state when you close it and restores that when you start up again. Sometimes I manually set myself to Away so people wont bother me while I'm using my computer, but if I forget to change this when I close Steam, the next time I start, it shows me Away. I try to remember to go invisible before closing Steam now, but when it's late and I'm tired, I sometimes forget.
The biggest problem I still have is that you sometimes cant invite to friends to games. It doesn't always appear on the right click menu on the friends list. Sometimes it works if you open a chat window and right click the tab, but not always.

I like some improvements, but other i hate. For example every time i start Steam i get a pop-up of the chat window even though i don't needed at the moment.

On top of the new chat some games appearing that some of your friends are playing at the moment. You can only minimize the friends with the minus sign, but the game icons themselves are just staying there. So far I couldn’t find a way to disable this. It would be nice if there was an option to turn it off and/or to manually add only some games that you would be interested at.
