did both :) Not to be a fanboy but I think they put lots of thought into the Xbox 360 controller & actually designed it for long gaming sessions where it kept comfortable to hold & use plus it didn't feel like it would break apart in your hands, the only downside is it was more designed towards the male gender because I've heard off a few people with a small hand-spam (mainly females) that they find it hard & uncomfortable to use.

So, are you going to design a new controller yourself or are you just researching for a paper/out of personal interest?

It's mostly for a paper. My team is doing research to make a controller for those with special needs, mainly autism.

That's interesting. How does autism affect your needs with regards to a gamepad?
Best of luck with your paper :)

Xbone controller is good, but it feels very cheap, and mine broke, while my 360 one is comming to 5 years of use, and still works great.

Voted. I'm a bit of a Sony Boy when it comes to consoles though.

I lean towards Sony controllers since the Xbox controllers I used were far too big and uncomfortable to hold (smaller hands :/). Also thought the d-pad was terrible, and preferred the control sticks be symmetrical like Sony has it. I even went a bit out of my way to get a PS2 layout PC controller that still used X-input like a 360 controller would've just to avoid using an actual 360 controller.

I'm going with Xbone and the 360 controller as the best designed and the best to hold; the Dualshock controller's sticks are too loose, their light but simply aren't my type. I really don't like Microsoft very much, though I have to say that Xbox 30 and Xbone are way better, they took a good controller and didn't make much improvements to it.

I didn't answer the poll. I haven't used most of the controllers so I didn't think I could give you a fair answer.
However, I personally never adapted to the dual joystick design or the associated playstyle (camera with one hand, movement with the other). The main reason I switched to PC gaming is because of the controls.

360 controller is hands down the best in just about every way imo. Second best imo would probably be the n64 controller, despite it's odd shape it was surprisingly comfy to use.

The N64 controller was made for people who live in Chernobyl and have a 3rd hand. Peek of Nintendo was the GC, then they lost their shit with Wii

The gamecube controller is the best one ever made. Playing Resident Evil 4 with an XB360 controller or KB+M just doesn't quite cut it (though aiming is better with a mouse now)

Out of all the controllers I have used over the years going from the Atari/colecovision era to now, I have to say the one that I have liked the best is the XBox 360. I have big hands and it fits them quite well.
While I have not used the Xbone one its not that different then the Xbox 360 so I don't see that one being any better or else. The Steam controller thats being worked on is starting to look more and more like the Xbox ones but its still going to have at least some touch pads I think, unless thats changed.

I am doing research based off how video game controllers are handled and designed. If you could please take a moment and respond to the polls below. The first one ask what controller you feel is easier to grasp and the second ask which controller you think is better designed. If you like please feel free to explain why you feel which controller is better designed in the forum.
Thank You.
