still bugs & heroes are not done. still takes long time i guess

There is no release date yet.

Impossible to be release any time soon. There's still a small chunk of content missing from the original game (modes, about 8-9 heroes, etc).

Also, there's a TON of heroes for whom custom items don't even exist yet (which is important because buying those are how DotA2 earns profit). Matchmaking is being tweaked, but it's still got its annoying quirks. Solo queues can potentially get into stacked teams, highest skill bracket doesn't seem very reflective of its name, etc.

But most important of all, there's a complete lack of a tutorial system or a means to ease in new players to the game. There needs be some sort of mentor system in place, or at the very least, some video/text-guide integration into the game itself from a third party website. What makes this all even worse is that the AI Bots (horrible teaching tools by the way because THEY CHEAT to add fake difficulty) aren't even programmed yet for majority of the heroes.

There's an extremely steep learning curve for the game here and an unforgiving community to boot. Valve simply can't, and which is why I'm sure they won't, release this game until there's a proper system in place to induct new people.

I had a nice review of Dota2 written somewhere. However I can't find it. I played a lot on my friends account before I got one myself.

Basically as a long time Dota player, who went to play League of Legends and HoN I looked at Dota2 with hope. Hope that they would IMPROVE the game, make changes, mess with it a little, not directly copy Dota. League is good because unlike Dota it is DIFFERENT they took what was great about Dota, and expanded on it instead of outright copying it. Their are things that bug me about LoL (the lack of deny) but deep down the game flows better and is more fun because of this.

Dota2 is not Dota2 it is Dota Remastered. It is Dota with shiny new graphics, no innovation or change was made. They did not try to mess with the formula or shake things up. They just took Dota and went (copy > paste.)

I don't think he's talking about steamgifts value. I think he is talking about trade value, since now dota 2 is like 1-2$
