Probably tied to overall decline of interest for dA. Been a user for 6 years now, sad to see dA hit the low point hard. :( :3

Thanks, changed title..
kept the "deviant" part to specify we are talking about dA.. should I drop it? don't know if I'm worthy of being the one bringing all the artists in a single place =P
I'd also change category, if only my PC would let me use dropdowns >_< ..are categories that important anyway? =P

Might be interested, but I'm not sure how useful it might be on deviantart.
Any ideas on the types of art to submit there?
Like maybe, fanart of games perhaps?

I said on dA because I wanted people interested in the "artistic" aspect of it to join.. not interested in those who only want to join for giveaways..
Problem is, I was checking dA groups and looks like there's no forum available for members (there's one for admins.. don't know if it's a doable things though) ..so a Steam group might be the right place to talk while the dA the one to show everyone's works.
Not sure about it.. I think everyone should have the right to show what they can do and what they like to do, even if it isn't related to games..
It's more of an idea I got and posted it here to brainstorm with you all. If I already had a clear plan for the thing, I'd probably already created the group =P

Yup, though what art is allowed to be submitted to the group is what I'm still wondering about.
Maybe a discord could be useful if you're seeking a platform to chat, or a steam group?

Steam group might be better, 'cause not everyone might have a discord account.. perhaps it could be used as third option.
It's true that having a theme (either weekly, monthly, whenever we come up with one) may be better at involving people in the group.. still need to think about this through =P
For example, as you said, we could have "fanart of games" as theme, and everyone could post their work, be that a drawing, a photo, handicraft, a written piece (I don't feel like excluding people who want to join, only because they don't draw).. not necessarily a contest with prizes, something like a challenge, to have fun and become better by doing something outside your comfort zone..
Again on that community stuff, the Steam group is nice because it has a forum (where one can find stuff better than discord imho), but let's not forget that every deviation can be commented, for questions, hints, helps and so on :)

Me neither, don't worry! =P That's also why I said that if there's someone willing to start this, I'll gladly let 'em do.. 'cause I fear I would not be able to engage people, thus leading the group to death right from the beginning T_T
The direction is a complete unknown atm.. hope to gather some good idea from all those artistic heads of yours =P

Please Pete, I'm sure you make neato art :0
I'm curious to see what you can do :0000

I was a DA user from 2004 to roughly 2009.
I stopped uploading my digitally converted artwork to the platform as I was busy with my Masters.
I haven't gone back since...I've had people stealing some of my work and selling it on other platforms, etc.
It was a great community to meet people, even from my own country in relation to art and the likes, but I didn't see much of that after I returned.
Don't think I will return to submit anything going forward.

About people stealing your artwork... have you tried putting watermarks and or using the dmca copyright form?
Nearly every site has a dmca form and it usually gets stolen art taken down quickly :0

It was a while ago and I was a novice.
DA did offer some form of DMCA, but, if I'm not mistaken, many of the options weren't available to free users of the platform.
Look, it wasn't a big deal, I wasn't making money off the artwork, it was more of a share and community for me.
And, to be honest, I hate watermarks, even on my own works...maybe I'm just OCD like that. Haha. :)

They are available to all users actually I believe! I had to report some art thieves on the site before.
Maybe instead of watermarks, what about a small signature of sorts?

Remember this was from 2004...so it's been 14 years ago since I started upload my first works.
But, in any case, I'm not planning on adding any additional art to the platform in the next while.
Thanks for the suggestions though, appreciated.

Ah, I see. Sorry to hear. Hope you have a good day ahead though!

No need to apologise, this happened more than 10 years ago, so this was just a reminder of back then. Haha. :)
Actually, most of my spare time these days are taken up by doing tech reviews.
So only very rarely do I find time to draw or do some design work. It's sad, I know.
Enjoy as well!

I started using it less and less for the same reason, but I was not happy with it.. I liked that place.
Do you have some other place where you upload you works now, or you just keep them in your HD, as I do? =P
Sadly, art thief is something very easy to do and very hard to stop.. I don't think dA is the only place that suffer from it; every platform is their prey/victim :\

Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming dA for the stolen artwork per se. It's just more of a frustration for me that it can be so freely taken and sold for profit and I've never myself bothered to monetise any of my work previously. :)
Also, I don't share my work that often. I have shared some here and there on Instagram, but I don't mind them being taken.
Back when I first started uploading my art, people were still paying to have wallpapers MMSed to their devices, which is where most of my works were being sold. Times have changed, so I'm sure anyone can just download and save any images as a wallpaper without anyone knowing.

Yes, I've been on dA for a while but I've been too busy to keep up with it. For a while, I enjoyed being part of a dA group that would regularly put out topics that all of the users would try to draw. No prizes, just regular drawing challenges.
I found something similar at Illustration Friday where they post a weekly topic and everyone is encourage to submit.
I submitted one of a squirrel using a steamshovel. See if you can find it. 😉

Found it, very nice! ^_^
I follow some similar group on fb, never submitted anything 'cause everyone is soo good :O I draw worse than elementary kids ^^;
That's what I was thinking too, not prizes (well, one once in a while maybe) but challenges.. something to have fun with and improve your skills at the same time :)

From time to time I see some user here who mention his/her deviantART account.
also, we have groups for everything, yet we have none for dA.
So, I'm mostly asking to those who have a dA account (but others too may join the discussion, if they're interested in seeing fellow sg-ers works)
would it make sense to have a group for us deviants of steamgifts?
or would you rather keep the two things separated?
in both cases, please notice that I'm talking about a group on dA, not on Steam (I mean, a Steam group could also be made, but one on dA would make more sense to me)
Haven't created the group yet (no sense to make one if noone is interested) and have no real plans for it, so am also willing to leave the creation/management of it to someone else if they have some interesting idea or just want to do it :)
