isnt the 4200 an onboard chip? Not sure...but I can tell you its really bad. With ATI you should go for the x8xx series or if you wanna go low budget the x6xx series. Usually an x8xx is better than the x6xx of the next gen, too. ofc in reality its a bit more complex. However the x2xx series are really not made for gaming. you can get way better gpus for 40-50€

Yes, the 4200 is a mobile onboard chip. A terrible one.

If u plan on playing on a low cost laptop, especially one that does not focus on gaming, don't even bother.

I case u want to play but don't have a lot of money to spend, just go buy a A10 5800k cpu, they are simply stupid powerful for the price.

What this commenter said for x8xx/6xx or nvidia GTX x60 to x80. I have GTX460 and it plays everything just fine - most newer games(2012-13) are not on MAX setting, but still FPS>40ish at HIGH settings. And it overclocks like crazy - 675/1800MHz to 840/2050MHz.

Oh Ati, even below HD 5000 makes it even worst.

beware also that pre hd5xxx are considered legacy by amd, and windows 8 drivers seems to be lacking in some aspects

Do not buy that PC unless your going to add in a discrete graphics card. A PS3 will be way better than that PC.

To play Team Fortress 2 or DOTA 2, a nVIDIA GeForce GT 630 is a good choice provided the PC's powersupply has at least 300 watts, case is large enough, and resolution is not too high.

Why not get a system with AMD APU? It will eat 4200 for breakfast and it costs roughly the same.
Lets take the cheapest options for that:
MB: ASRock FM2A55M-DGS FM2 $45
CPU: AMD A6-5400K Trinity 3.6GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) Socket FM2 65W Dual-Core Desktop APU with AMD Radeon HD 7540D $75
RAM: Crucial Ballistix 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 $30
All other parts: take them from your current pc.

I think we already had this debate (and even with the same person)...i don't know...if you can't affort something decent, then save a little more or get an used pc (for example something cheap with Athlon 64 X2 or Core 2 Duo and Radeon 4850; i had a A64 X2 4200+ with R4850 from 2007 till 2010 and it ran everything without problems...the new owner still use it and guess what - everything till 1650x1050 works flawless). A computer is not something you'll have just for a day. Thats why you need to look forward and not just take something because you saw it somewhere, someone offered it or you just want it badly. Nothing is worse than a feeling after giving a lot of money and noticing it is crap.

Please please for the love of everything tell me you can return that.

Its very outdated, Athlon X2? Are you serious? For 399.99? Thats outrageous. You could have done much much better.

Only thing you could do is upgrade your card to HD 7750 GDDR5 (other cards are no-go since this one is the most power efficient with ~50W tdp under heavy load + you have just a 300W power supply); also, take just the gddr5 version...gddr3 may be a little cheaper, but also around 50% slower. You can also add some ram if you have less than 4gb.

Other stuff will be fine for now. In a year you can upgrade your power supply to a brand name 500W (Corsair, Seasonic, etc.) and cpu to an used Phenom II X4 965 (max supported thing on your motherboard).

With all that stuff you won't be able to play on ultra high details, but at least you won't need to lower your resolution under the screen's native one.

Thanks man, it already comes with 6gb of ram but i think that 8gb is going to be o.k. for a moment, and that CPU that you say looks pretty good, and yeah i don't want to spend too much money in this PC cause i like to play games but not at Max settings, doesn't matter that it look ugly i just want to play at a good FPS, cause at the moment i only have a Laptop Acer 5315 with a Dual Core 2.0Ghz, 3GB RAM and the cursed x3100 and i barely can play these games. Thanks for you help.

Pros: Dota 2 and TF2 work on lowest settings and 800x600 resolution at somewhat decent FPS; other source engine games (CS:S, HL2, Vampire:bloodlines) work with medium to low settings. Some games like Cod4, MW2 and alikes work on lowest settings and 800x600 resolution too, but something a little heavier like Borderlands even on lowest has some FPS drops.

If the other games you plan on playing aren't older than 4 years I wouldn't reccomend it, it's a simple chipset best used to full-hd video playback and such, not really games.

Source: Have one on my laptop for a couple of years now, and wanted to differ from all the people skipping the actual question and just telling you to spend more money. Budget gaming isn't easy but sometimes it's the only way.

It'll play a lot of games (Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Fallout, etc.) including Dota 2 and TF2, but you'll have to crank the settings and resolution down on pretty much any game you want to play. Console ports (like Darksiders) without graphics options will be virtually unplayable (as in I can only play Darksiders at 640x480 resolution). You'll have pretty heavy frame rate drops with some graphical effects (smoke being the most common frame-dropper I've noticed). New games will likely be barely playable, if they're playable at all.

So, yeah, you can play games, but not particularly well, and you'll be unable to run a fair amount of games at all. If you're not opposed to the idea, taking those $400 and building your own PC will get a result light years ahead. Hell, you could just buy the parts, have them shipped, and then find somebody knowledgeable in computers to come and build it for you and still come out ahead.

My desktop pc has that one plus a 5770 is worth my time to bother to do the crossfireX thing? I remember that when I bought it I considered doing that but I forget why I stop caring.

You can't pair cards from different generations (e.g. 4850 with 5850, etc.). CrossfireX compatibility chart

As you can see, it is only possible to pair 5770 with 5750, 6770 (renamed 5770) and 6750 (renamed 5750).

I played Crysis 1 on medium with my integrated HD4200. Smooth FPS. Running source games will be fine on it. Strangely my friend who had a similar MB with the same card couldn't run Crysis as well as I could. You can up the mhz and mb on the card in bios and it will run many more things. Just don't get greedy. Read about it before and know your limits. Only raise so much that you don't have to adjust voltage.

Also you can switch to directx8 on TF2 if that thing still functions.

I have an ATI HD 4200. It's not good.
I can play medium settings on TF2, and L4D2, but I have to turn some things on low, and sometimes to make modern games playable like Dead Island and Alan Wake I have to play in....in...640x480.

Well. ANY Source game will run fine on that. Source is the most optimized engine. I ran source games on my old 1.86ghz intel duo core and a 9800gt with good framerate on highest settings

one of my previous rigs had a 4250 and that struggled to run fallout new vegas so a 4200 is pretty much abysmal, you might get away with a few indies, some source games and angry birds but that is about it.
