Trackmania United - opinions

Did none of you played in Trackania United ?

Well, if you like it why do you have to ask what other peoples think about the game? The free version was awesome when it was new, nowadays you drive like 5 races and then you have to take a break.. I played it 46hrs total, well its not that much compared to other games i played but i had my fun.

I played the free version and liked it a lot as well. I never did pick up the paid version, and since TM2 has been out for a year now, I would go that route... although it's not on Steam, making it less convenient for me. I like convenience. Occasionally more than I like good games.
So this is why I didn't reply earlier -- I don't really have an opinion of any worth here.

I played trackmania Sunrise, that was pretty good. Nations forever was lame imho. I'd like United too but 30 euros for an almost 5 years old game is a joke.

Funny - I've just recently reinstalled TMNF to have some fun in the editor.
When I look through the features, there is no reason to buy TMU. At least not for 30 Euro. At the moment they are releasing new stuff for TM2, which iirc makes that new version compatible with tracks etc from TMNF. That sounds pretty cool - but as it's not on steam, I won't buy it either.

I wouldn't buy it for a full price, but on 50% I will, if not for other reasons than to support the company. If you gonna play online, few people play other environments other than stadium. But if you wanna play by yourself, it's cool to have 5 more enviormnets. In my opinion on 50% it's better buy than TM 2, especially if you like TMN alot.

Buy TrackMania 2 Canyon for 20€, totally worth it.

TMU is a really good game, however it's overpriced. I'd get it on sale if possible ;) TrackMania 2 isn't really good if you ask me, it lacks different cars and environments that TMU has...

id play trackmania united forever but it keeps saving maps and other content on "my programs" in c:// instead of the game folder its in (steamapps) and that pisses me off

I have it (but lost the CD :(), it's a good game but not worth the €30 now. Maybe you can get it cheaper somewhere or try to get Sunrise and the original one, United is just all TM games combined with online features. When you don't need the online features (but I don't know how active it's now) you should try to get the other two.

I only played free one and it was great until freezone came by...

I have mixed feelings about the TMU/TMN generation of Trackmania - haven't played 2, loved original and sunrise - and I'm surprised to see that it's not easily available for cheap by now. Definitely grab it next time it's 75% off (assuming the online is still alive by then) but at full price I'd give it a miss.

Really good game. I'm playing 6 years already and still want more but there is one problem. After the release of a lot of players dont play this game now :( But like for me one of "Trackmania Fan" TMUF is still awesome :D

is three times cheaper, from what I've read on various portals devoted to Trackmania is not profitable to buy TM2 because every environment is to be paid separately and play fewer players there.
However, your opinions are very valuable, I will think considering buying this game.

Played a bit of track mania nations forever free on steam . It's alright.

Was a somehow good player in old Nations, had a long pause, bought United Forever just for fun for 10€ and began to play seriously again with TM2, but was more busy with helping at cups and things. In my opinion, you should stay at Nations for a competitiv experience, buy United for offline fun and hunting online scores and buy TM2 for casual online experience.

If you really like the trackmania games, buy it. Simple.
