Yippee! Now I don't have to pay $1.48 to try it out.

Interesting. And at the same time, kinda not. shrug
Hopefully it just starts a new trend of making all the older MP-focused games F2P, just so they're actually available if people want to randomly play them instead of being straight-up dead.

It really doesn't feel good, wouldn't bother unless you're very curious

I remember watching the trailer and the first gameplay footage in E3 years ago, the game looked freaking awesome. Seems it has had a mix of reviews over the years with only 61% currently. That's a shame. I wonder what happened exactly?

"The game was crap" and talking about clans for some other game doesn't answer the question..

It had terrible net code and a lot of bugs, the features they introduced (parkour elements for instance) weren't as revolutionary as they announced them to be... overall it felt kinda rushed and like something behind the scenes had gone wrong, but who knows. Dirty Bomb is kinda the spiritual successor of Brink and its mechanics are way better :x and tbh I would've preferred they instead woulda brought QuakeWars back :<, but I guess despite all that I personally will give Brink another try sometime, even if it's only for SP (nvm) or 1-2 hours.

Thanks for the reply that does give me some insight as to what was wrong. I'm guessing it had a decent pop still and also selling copies till recently otherwise they probably would of gone f2p a lot sooner.

10 is not the pop. The average online at one time was at 11.6, that's not the whole pop and as I mentioned it's players online at one time. The pop before today's F2p launch was about 40 players for awhile which is still extremely low. Today the game peaked at almost 650 players which is actually the highest it's been in it's history. So the F2p launch did bring in some numbers. Hopefully those almost 650 players will add to the permanent pop.

I guess I'll play the single player at some point.

Free to play? Still too much for that horrid pile of garbage,.

You may find some comfort in the fact that I've also been tempted a couple of times and even bought it on a whim. I'm obviously also a horrible person though. I wonder how they are going to monetize the game now. Can't be a lot of cash in loot-crates for an unpopular game, even if it's supposedly free. I'm sure they have a brilliant plan though :)

Just so you now, its actaully free, not business model of any type that i could see

I was actually thinking about this yesterday (or this morning, I forget which) and then see it. I actually rather enjoyed BRINK, mostly because I thought the world was cool and interesting. The gameplay was mediocre, not really offering anything special, but not bad either. I might dust it off again, eventually, if it gets players.
