The Enhanced Steam Standalone beta has begun! This is a huge redesign of the alpha version and there are a lot of changes.

  • Enhanced Steam is moving from alpha to beta, expect bugs
  • Completely redesigned launcher
  • More seamless user experience - Steam is Enhanced when launcher is running
  • Enhanced Steam no longer requires editing your host files
  • Added the option to minimize to system tray
  • Updated the codebase to include more features
  • Updated the codebase to work with the new Steam store layout
  • Enhanced Steam will now check for updates automatically
  • Enhanced Steam now requires an administrator to run
  • The application is now Windows only

If you have the alpha version of Enhanced Steam Standalone, you'll need to remove it before running the beta version. Additionally, you may need to edit you hosts file (typically c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts) to remove the two Steam-related entries.

Please remember: this software is still in beta and there will be bugs. I'll try to help resolve any issues you may be having, but please remember to be patient.

The beta can be downloaded directly from http://www.EnhancedSteam.com/standalone/. Please do not download Enhanced Steam from unknown sources. The source code of this project can be viewed on Github.

Installation is simple, simply extract the contents of the ZIP file anywhere on your PC. Then simply launch Enhanced Steam.exe.

Thanks for your participation in the beta. I hope to improve the application even further based on your feedback!

Sounds awesome since I love enhanced steam, but I have one question. If I'm using a skin for my steam browser and use enhanced steam at the same time will it cause an issues?

This program should work just fine with custom Steam skins. :)

Awesome!

I've loved Enhanced Steam since I found it a long while ago. (At least a year or longer)

Thanks for all of your hard work, it's really appreciated! :D

Does it interfere with the Chrome plugin or can they both be installed?

It's designed to run without the Chrome / Firefox / Opera version of Enhanced Steam. It won't necessarily break anything, but some sections that are added by Enhanced Steam (such as price history information) may be "doubled up" in your browser if both are installed.

Thanks, I like the idea of this better than having more browser plug-ins running.

It does seem to enhance steam client but not the chrome. Also where are the settings for it?

Same for me, inside the steamclient I get to see for e.g. a link to steamdb (but not steamcardexchange). Also no x card drops and x games with card drop as well as filters for the badge list on neither steam client, or firefox nor chrome. Don't know if anything else works, but those are the most important features for me and they don't... so guess I'm back to the plugin.

AVG thought it was a virus. I'm guessing it was just a false positive and it's completely safe?
Edit: Also ever since I downloaded it I now can't use the default steam client cause it gives "Error Code: -130" on any page I try to load.
