I will never understand this "no achievements - no purchase" mindset. It's like the game somehow gets magically better with them

+1. I can appreciate it a little more for Xbox games where you actually have a tally of 'points' for getting achievements, but for Steam games? Meh.

Having points for Achievements is one of the stupidest things ever.

Why?

Achievements should be an extra and nothing more, having points is like "you have to get all of them or you'll be forever on 3400/6000"

Back in my time we didn't even have game saves...falls asleep....

People today are brainwashed by the Xbox 360/PS3 game era. Imo I feel Xbox 360 and PS3 ruined gaming.

I have never had a console other than NES and that was ages ago! if the game don't have achievments i'd rather download it from some torrent tracker - i'd have the verry same experience.... for free! And don't tell me i don't support developers - if i didn't i wouldn't have over 450 items in my account

A popup toast every now and then significantly enhances your gaming experience?

oh god elitism

Actually IMO it was all over ever since games came on cartridges. I mean, buying games separate from consoles, what the hell, amirite? Fuck them casuals.

OMFG Co-op multiplayer? Did the original even have that? I definitely want to try that out.

Yes, it was part of the official patch, which I assume Gog has slipstreamed into their edition. However, be advised, it's not a well-designed feature. I don't recall off-hand what the shortcomings were, but do remember that they were significant enough that you probably won't want to try and play the full campaign in coop. Still, being able to experience even portions of one of the best, scariest games ever made in coop is a wonderful thing, so we can't really complain. :)

2 players coop was fine as long as one wasnt PSI-OP leeching away the modules. One for standard weapons/energy weapons and tech tree, the other for standard/energy and heavy worked pretty well

Sounds like a blast to me, this had really cool level design...

maybe Psi-Op was good for coop, too. Imo Psi-Ops were just weaker than Navy or Marine. They could easily master the tech skills,2 weapon skills and body skills enough to use their weapons so they could explore everything, never run out of weapons and had access to cheap ammo. I never had a problem with them. However a Psi-Op needs a lot of modules to get a start, its stupid to change the skills and while they had some nice skills, they had nothing important a tech couldnt have done. So yeah,I didnt like them,my only Psi Op playthrough was on normal and I had a very hard time.

And yes....it had an awesome level design, the game overall was pretty awesome and a great story with great characters. I had one playthrough coop with a friend and he was marine and I was tech and it worked pretty well.
