I am playing once a week online together with my familiy including my dad, who is 60+, and my two sisters, who are "casual-gamers". While i would call myself near the hardcore gamer type.

We have played Guild Wars 2, WoW and D&D Neverwinter. We started as 4 people with Torchlight 2 and Diablo 3. But its always kind of difficult to be really entertaining for everyone as skills differ greatly. This is ok, because the main purpose is to do something together, while we are distributed all over the country. But we still search for something which can be enjoyed by all together.

PvP isn't an option as my dad just can't keep up with other gamers out there. So all those MOBAs aren't an option. More slow-paced strategic stuff would be nice. Some simulation games, but it should be cooperative.

As this is a great community of all types of gamers, i am sure there are some suggestions for games we should try.

Thank you Giveaway of a great Coop game:

Origin was gifting Need for Speed a week ago. But I can't think in many games for 5 ppl or more that aren't MMOs, RTS (and then we would be talking about pvp) or racing games. Too bad Borderlands accepts only up to 4, and Trine only up to 3...

I'm not going to mention any of the 4-player games since you asked for 5, but I will give a +1 to Terraria. More is better with that game. Just make sure the person hosting the server is the one who is consistently "there."

PS. (Any five-man co-op game would be good. Most RTS's and League of Legends offer co-op vs. AI.)

I think Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 is a game that fit your needs. There's a competitive edge, the art style may be pleasing to your sisters, and your dad can be the Kernel Corn: the badass military-esque dual wielding chain gun hero. There's the horde mode too in case your dad doesn't want pvp.
