For me, Life is a journey. Full of Experiences, Stories we pick up along the way, life choices, decisions to make.
It all plays out differently with our individual personalities, experiences and decisions.
I believe in Fate however, I cannot let fate decide everything but see it as an Encounter.

ps: There's no Lvl Caps in this RPG. Becareful if you choose Ironman mode or any mode things may get harder but its always still perma-death. ~_^

You come across a BS encounter and get all your progress scrapped, or have your character data corrupted and be unable to continue on as expected. The cutscenes are great, but the overall narrative is wanting, the plot is nonsensical, and- outside of an endless stream of two-dimensional antagonists- you can't quite figure out any of the character motivations. You never have enough currency and yet there's nothing you ever really want to buy to begin with. You'll spend excessive amounts of time hunting down that perfect item, only to find out it's not as satisfying as you thought it'd be. There are traps in every corner, and your companions are too busy getting lost in their pathing to help you deal with them. The sleeping arrangements are all overpriced or awkward to deal with, but ultimately necessary. Etc.
Yeah, I can see the parallel.
Not sure you can find companions in the real world that are as adorable as some of those in RPGs, though..

This is totally random but have you played the Waking Mars?
Beside It more or less is a AAA title with lots of emotional and physical drama. The part i really dont like is that its too long to beat generally but then at the same time it can be too short.
You can find adorable friends, some you can relate to and know will be part of all the quests you call them for!!

You will encounter obstacles. You will make mistakes. Be grateful for both. Your obstacles and mistakes will be your greatest teachers. And the only way to not make mistakes in this life is to do nothing, which is the biggest mistake of all.
Enjoy the challenges and you know what they say. Whatever doesn't kill you will make you stronger :-)

Life for me is an experience, a story that one has to go through, and there are lot of life choices.
You can be what you want but at the same time it depends where you got spawned.
Life will also throw some difficult bosses your way.
You level up.
You acquire skills.
So in a nutshell for me life is just a huge RPG styled sandbox
