Actually i'm thinking about just building a big whitelist, no more public GA, no more Blacklist

The same thought crossed my mind a few minutes ago

sad thing is that you are right. Back in SGv1 I had a situation where guy straight up lied in my topic about why he gets BlackListed by me - comes to my puzzle topic raging and flaming how OP is a f*ggot and he blacklists ppl he disagree with on forums, while in reality guy got BLed by me for serial rulebreaking (leaking puzzle info, non activating won games). I write it in reply to his comment and he goes all rage how I am not allowed to publicly call him out on these things. Even better - support (well now ex-support) shows up and advise me to edit my post as it's considered calling out.
Comment has been collapsed.
exactly, no one got banned except for OP and the poor dude only had on game left to activate at the time.
squirrel actually showed proof and he got suspended
You just have to tread carefully

As I said before, it's just like when we make fun of the Sid Meier's Pirates guy and other users. The "calling out" rules are not 100% clear, maybe cg should make a post about it or something.
Also, it's weird to see you posting without using gifs :P
Comment has been collapsed.
well the thing is we were not directly calling him out (well, we were mostly, I believe my 1st post to Pirate guy have been straight calling out, prolly missed the bullet by not being reported ;p). Posting pirates-related jokes and comments was no calling out, more like an inside joke - you had to know he didn't activate Sid Meiers: Pirates to get irt in the first place, comments aone were not directly saying "hey, XYZ didn't activate his Sid Meier: Pirates game!!!". In this case squirrel directly calls guy out and is not so lucky as either got reported or just because thread was so popular support saw his calling out themselves.
Comment has been collapsed.
Because of "calling out", I guess. People do it all the time when a rulebreaker creates a new topic, but I suppose this is more special since it was related to a "developer".
Comment has been collapsed.
Objectively speaking, it was against the rules. It was a double edged sword what he did and I respect him for it. The real issue here is why the guy's 2 month ban was lifted when he still had multiple unactivated wins.
Comment has been collapsed.
petition to lift ban by activating games, anyone can do it. he probably had more unactivated wins that he could activate now, or some other offense we don't know so he was banned again.
really, this thread is the living proof of a witch hunt and mob mentality. even if the guy did wrong before, this thread is ridiculous.
Comment has been collapsed.
I know, that's why I was wondering about the lifted bans cause I see his non-activated stuff has been reduced but still enough to warrant SOME bans. If it was cleared, I would have thought nothing about his cleared suspensions. The BLs he would have earned from then on would be personal preference maybe about his shady excuse but rule wise he would be cleared.
Comment has been collapsed.
I suppose the cynical explanation for what appears on the outside to be "above the law" un-bannable people would be mass giveaways = advertising money, but I'm sure the real explanation is different. :) Don't suppose we'll ever hear what the real explanation is, though...
Comment has been collapsed.
I always forget that once the thread is open you cant add a poll.
that would be a nice feature to implement

Your image isn't really the "popular vote". As for his popularity later on, well if you went against him, what do you think would happen? Also I think, at its peak, 10% of Germans were nazis..oh and lets not forget about propaganda...
You think most north koreans support their leader too? They'd be executed if they said otherwise.
Comment has been collapsed.
LOL where is yours? You don't have any...there is no evidence. There are no support polls for hitler. Your graph is just when he was elected and isn't even the popular vote..not to mention it isn't the MAJORITY. Really that hard to understand?
Comment has been collapsed.
As I couldn't in High school I still can't fathom how that was possible. What frighten me is that could happen again too.
I am not talking specifically about Germany but rather of the concessions that the population can make just to make a quick buck.

Welcome to uninformed democracy. It happens to my country every 6 years.
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh dear... maybe you do just base your opinion on dubious websites, but let me give you a little different picture based on facts: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_federal_election,_November_1932
Before you reply, please make sure you read the information carefully.
Comment has been collapsed.
Your comparison makes absolutely no sense. If you really know how Hitler took over Germany then you would know it's a perfect example that people are like sheep that will let almost anything happen without doing something about it as long as it doesn't affect them directly. It's also an example how democracy can fail, but in a totally different way than what you try to establish here. Before you use an extreme example to make a point know your facts properly.
Comment has been collapsed.
If there was a poll, most of people would vote in favor of this guy because he was giving away games.
Like you said:
"people are like sheep that will let almost anything happen without doing something about it as long as it doesn't affect them directly."
But he break a rule and should be punished even if most say it's ok because he give away games.
Comment has been collapsed.
I see you know your facts about German elections and how to interpret them much better than me. Don't let numbers and facts ever fool you!
Comment has been collapsed.
You constantly ignore the fact that most Germans never voted/supported Hitler. He took over government with 33% of the votes and even after he forbid several opposing parties 'only' got 43% of the votes. I'm done talking here.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yep, it's still happening today and if people would understand how it really works better maybe it wouldn't work anymore. Then again there's always people with the will to power and a silent mass that doesn't do anything :/
Comment has been collapsed.
Duckman had almost more white knights from his groups because they "won" a 30-cent game from him than people demanding his removal in that ginormous thread. So you don't really need to use 80+ year-old examples to prove point in seemingly illogical social behaviour. (Plus people always forget that logic is just one of many philosophies, not a rule.)
Comment has been collapsed.
How... like... just HOW... Wh-... Why!? HOW DID THIS BECOME ABOUT HITLER?!
Comment has been collapsed.
Seems like one rule for one and another for others to me, do as I say not as i do.
Comment has been collapsed.
if it's 1st time you get caught on non-activating you would not get poermabanned, no matter the number of non-activated games. Permaban is only for hardest offences (like scamming, multiaccounts or feedback fraud) or for repeated rulebreaking. if you got caught 2nd or 3rd time still doing the same - only then you'd get permban for non-activation I believe.

So can we call out support? :P
If we all make our own thread to call out support in general without pointing towards anything or anyone, just call it "recent events"...
I'd love to see the entire front page of the forum plastered in "We want Sciuridae!" threads with random squirrel pics/gifs :P
Comment has been collapsed.
I hate to say it but, onk my frog friend, I tend to agree with you here.
In the last few months, ever since the latest batch of support was added, it seems that we have varying support trends. Sometimes, one thing seems to be ok with one support member but not ok with the other. I'm too lazy to get the threads and comments to link to them, but I can if I need to. Even quite recently I seem to recall a support member saying that there are increasing penalties for multiple bans, so if someone gets banned for Re-Gifting then Not Activating and then for say Fake Giveaways - they don't just serve the few days, they get punished harder.
I also remember, as others have stated above these posts, that if you provide proof and evidence that someone is what you say they are - it's not calling out. I remember something like You can't call out a bear for wearing fur, being said by a support member in regards to this.
I really do find the silence amusing and it's making me want to just make a group and throw key fodder away into a random name generator for those who are interested.

I'd like to see this quote. It might be a misinterpret?
Comment has been collapsed.
It was in this thread by wbarton (multiple posts, it starts very quickly), in regards to a scammer, but if it's not calling out with evidence in that situation I cannot see it being different in any other calling out situation.

Correct, and if you read the comments above it you see him make comments that contradict that, basically that it's not calling out because it's cg's name. I understand the comment made at the end to wrap everything up and make it appear like that's the cause, but that was a reply after a lot of other things were said.
I guess basically to me I took that thread's replies as being - Well it's ok for him to call out because he used cg's name and everyone just knows that's a scammer so it's not calling out. That to me is a double standard. I know I am not the only person who read it as that or saw it as that either.
Comment has been collapsed.
I said that just linking someone's profile can't be calling out.
Calling out is making public accusations against others.
If you go around publicly posting about how this or that person did this or that, you will get suspended. You tell us about it so we can deal with it and you leave the mob out of it.
It doesn't matter if you're correct or not, accusing people publicly will get you suspended even if you have video footage of them doing it on national television, sworn statements from the leaders of three major religions, and a certified record of their crimes from an international judicial coalition.
I get so tired of telling people that just because they're right doesn't make it not calling out. It's not that hard to understand.
Comment has been collapsed.
As you can see in that thread, wbarton is talking about "reasonable doubt" when it comes to the calling out rule. When an impersonator is impersonating someone, there's little to none "reasonable doubt" about what is going on, which is what his statement was all about.

Its a joke, dont take it too seriously
I feel insulted that you feel insulted

I wouldn't expect a real insult from you, and even if, I would probably laugh at it and not feel insulted. Sorry for that tho :P
EDIT: It seems that you closed the topic, so I can't reply to you. BUT I HAVE THE POWER TO EDIT MY COMMENTS!!!
It's written Cat. I don't know how to react to this. I was expecting something to be honest. Well, but I aint mad at you :D

I could begin to understand this if he had activated them all and they decided to unban him early, but he came back with everything still not activated and slowly did a few. The whole thing pisses me off.
Comment has been collapsed.
And people are still going in there for the whitelist for whitelist thing. So much blacklist fodder. Fucking lowlifes.
Comment has been collapsed.
You know, somehow someone already ended up on my blacklist beforehand, without me even knowing about these current events. Very interesting.
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't remember why I did it, could be what you mentioned though. All I know is that I don't blacklist for no reason.

Hey people, here is an idea....
sgtools.tk has issues sometimes. Have any of you considered that when the person was reported and 1 support staff member seen the unactivated games, the person was suspended, but another support staff went and looked but didn't see any unactivated games (because sgtools.tk was acting up) so then they unsuspended them.
I went and checked ones that I seen were still not activated on the persons steam account and they were still missing, so its a possibility that sgtools messed up at that time.
Edit
Also not sure why the person hasn't been suspended again yet, but we might not be seeing everything thats going on.
Second edit - It seems that as of this edit 10:11pm AST the person is banned for at least a month.

I always confirm with its profile to be 100%
but yes it's possible

Agreed, but at least something (even if small) is getting done about it
Edit: niiiiice, that's more like it :D:D

I've only been here for 6months so I can't say I've seen a lot going on, however, at this point Im just happy that Squirrel didnt get suspended for nothing and something is actually getting done

So it went from 2 months to nothing to 4 days
Will i made my decision and act according to it, trying not to get pissed.
This helped releasing some steam, from now on my Public GA´s will be part of a big whitelist, i'll start by adding people from this thread

not realy a vitory if you see how many people tried to get the whitelist for whitelist thing.... very sad :(

you can always keep track of those people and BL if needed :D

More like none of us were online so cg had to take care of this personally.
Sigh first thing I see when I get back from work is this.

For me it says one month but yeah, just noticed that too!
It's getting more and more, actually. It said until December 2 first, now it's December 12. Interesting.

Today i learned an important lesson
After seeing a so called developer, being forgiven of breaking multiple rules.
Still has the honor of parading with his developer tag around, even though he has proven to misuse it, misleading people with it.
Still has the honor of having is whitelist 4 whitelist thread open
encouraging spamming, not activating gifts, not delivering multiple gifts...forgiven
While the normal user, that contributes to this site without asking anything in return gets banned for the dumbest shit.
Thats how low our status is around here
Welcome to Steamgifts
