I don't know but steam doesn't seem to be very good in algebra:

I'll try again in a few days. or not. but that's not 5 € off by a long shot.

It applied the discount to the games in your cart. You can compare it to their store prices and it is 5€ cheaper.

on second look, it seems like a few items on the reiciept are already discounted by parts of the 5€ (no mention of it, you can only see if you compare the prices to what they have been in the shoping cart) so that only 1€ is left in the end to discount the subtotal. but it just makes no sense at all to write it out like that.

That happened to me as well. In my case it was caused by already having discount from "Complete the set" bundles.

Nope, steam (most likely) informs us when cards/items drop when competing badges.

I need some help. I'm trying to decide if I should buy FC5 from Steam or Uplay. Anyone knows if Uplay 20% club discount stack with a game already discounted?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Since I buy Ubisoft games only at Steam nowadays, I won't buy a club discount now to verify it, but I've read about it today regarding the current Far Cry 5 deal there and users in that community confirmed it.
But you might want to check Ubi's store page rather than in the client, since there they offer retail versions as well and they might be even cheaper.

Do you mean this store: https://store.ubi.com? The price seems to be the same. If by retail, you mean physical copies, we don't get that around here.
Thanks for the info. I'll probably get this from Uplay. 20% discount is too good to pass.

Yes, exactly. In Germany, they partially offer physical copies as well. And especially Far Cry 5 retail was at 12,99 € in the morning, while digital at 15,- €, but it was sold out very fast.

Does anybody know if, in order to get the 5€ reduction, one has to purchase 30€ worth of games at once, or does it work with multiple puchases?
For example, if I buy a 10€ game, and the next day I decide to buy a 20€ game, will I get the discount?

It is just for your first buy.

Yikes. My 14 year old account has over 12,000 games (13,000) but I only got 2000 coins in the envelope. That strikes me as a rather low coin number, so I wonder what factors valve use to calculate those numbers.

My account details say nearly $7000 on "External Funds". Still doesn't make sense.

Keys bought from external sources like bundles and such don't seem to count, only games you actually purchased on the Steam store directly.

You're in Australia, too, right Spazfrag?

I think it's broken for us. No matter how many dollars in external funds have been spent we all seem to get 2000 coins.

I noticed the External Funds link isn't even present on my account page; I had to use a direct web link to check it (https://help.steampowered.com/en/accountdata/AccountSpend).

Edit: the front page of the store also claims we get $8 discount on $45 spend, but if you add > $45 to your cart it only gives you $7.50 off. :D

Interesting. Yes, I am from Australia. A bug would make sense.

Not sure why this irks me like it does, I don't really even care about the coins and have no plans on using them. Thanks for the info.

Finally picked up Far Cry 5, plus DLC for a bunch of other games, to get just over $30 so I could get the $5 discount.

The "coins" are pretty dumb, but this seems like a decent sale.

$5 discount how? I can only see $1.7 discount of games above $10 or more...

If you load your cart with games that cost at least $30, you get $5 off. Or at least that's how it worked for me.

Permalink

Hmm, even $60 game gets $1.7 discount for me

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I got $7 off a $40 spend in a region where games are generally a bit more expensive. I think the discount seems roughly the same percentage (about 16%-18%) everywhere, but regions with lower base prices for games have a lower target spend.

Steam says

During this year's Lunar New Year Sale, players will receive a one-time automatic $5 (or equivalent currency) discount on qualifying
purchases over $30 -- this is limited to one cart purchase per account.

So maybe 1.7 for you is equivalent to 5 USD?

Steam tells me I get $8 off for the first $45 purchase, can that $45 be made up of multiple games? Or just one game?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Can be from multiple games. A bar would show up like winter/summer sale when viewing your cart but instead of getting a card you will get discount when that bar is full.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Unfortunately it is not like that.
The progress bar resets with your next purchase.
See my comment below as answer to TreeTrunk.

Permalink

Fo me it is 5€ of for the first 30€ Purchase.
Yesterday i bought a 0,39€ Game.
Today i filled the basket with a 29,74€ Game, the additional discount did not get applied, after i added another 0,40 € game the additonal discount got applied.

So your purchse has to be equal or exceed it at once. However it can be multiple games as long as they are all purchased at once and reaches the threshold.
