Tripped me up recently as i thought entering keys would send them automatically once the competition ended but apparently not.

Good idea

Sure, why not
Get outta here

I am so glad it doesn't send automatically.
I have had the wrong key in there a few times now from doing multiple giveaways while being drunk.

+1, never happened to me but I always check the key after it ends. I also check if the winner is not a complete asshole who should be rerolled.

I actually rerolled twice for the first time recently. I never checked before but I noticed a couple people had not activated recent wins. I would hate to think keys would be automatically sent to those people.

Was it funny because you have never had that issue? Not the drunk part, but the giveaway part of it. :p

Maybe you want to look at the winner profile before send the key. (To be sure nothing strange happens or to reroll because he not used a key from past giveaways)

True, perhaps the option would be a better solution.

As already mentioned, it isn't automatic as it allows members to ensure their winner isn't a rule breaker that deserves to get rerolled.

This should not be changed because you are supposed to check if the winner doesn't already have this game, didn't regift or didn't activate their previous wins.

This could and probably should done automatically as a fraud prevention thing, are you listening devs?

What happens with DLC's (Steam does not report those, I think) or people that has a game and enters for a Deluxe or GOTY GA?
Sadly, Steam API and games ID's structure was not created for GA's and not everything can be done automatically.

True, however nothing is bulletproof but it's better than nothing. :)

I bet it could be done but it depends on the structure of steam gifts and if they have access to our libraries contents where they could search for similar titles (accounting for GOTY editions) but DLC's perhaps not possible.

The main problem with that is that Steam API is quite unreliable. It will report you own a game that you don't on free weekends. It will also not report some games that you already have and most DLC.

Imagine you win a game you really want but it gets automatically re-rolled to someone else because it's a free weekend and the API reported that you already had it.
