I finally saved up a decent amount of steam wallet after selling all the cards I had, since I do not get around much to getting new games I would like to find some that have something that make them last for a solid amount of time. Looking at around 30 - 40 $ price point.

I was looking at forums for older posts on some of the bigger name games and they tend to be hit or miss in both directions.

While steam sales may be over, still trying to see how far I can stretch the price point. I like games like Dark Souls, Issac, borderlands 2 so I would be looking for game similar as I have gotten around 300 hours from just those three. Seems like most triple A games lately have had very short campaigns and are one and done till more dlc comes out.

Oh hi there buddy. What a coincidence seeing you here :O Anyways, I would say portal 2 as well. 345 hours in and still playing. Or if you like the RPG's more, then Skyrim is an obvious good option.

EDIT: Never mind, I see you have both of those games in your library.

Of the 250000 chambers there are made in the community only like 1% is worth playing. Community chambers are usually more challenging than the ones in the main storyline if you can find good ones like Mevious. There are a ton of other good map makers that you can find if you just look in his favourites.

EDIT: And, of course, making maps yourself should be some fun to fool around with.

Civ is more global, you have to develop the whole nation, build towns and shit, choose the technology to unlock, trade, CONQUER THE WHOLE WORLD! MWAHAHAHAHA!.. Oh wait, you can also send a spaceship in another galaxy.

How is civ 5 compared to civ 4, I was reading a forum where people saying they liked one or the other. Is there like big differences? As I like building/taking over the world games.

I basically consider 5 to be a simplified version of 4 with better graphics. It's more streamlined which leads in my opinion to a smoother multiplayer experience and less digging through the Civilopedia to figure out what to do next. I've played every Civ game since 1 came out and I enjoyed both 4 and 5.

My suggestion is Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. There are alot of characters to unlock and level up (in order to unlock vehicle mods). It's also very fun and it even has multiplayer. And racing in this game is very fun. I can imagine I'll play this for a long time.

Also don't buy it from the Steam Store. Buy TF2 keys from the community market and buy the game with 3 keys (from trading sites). It really saves you alot of money. It's 100% safe (no risk of getting scammed if you get a steam gift copy and not a steam key).

Permalink

Now I have no idea when it comes to Tf 2 stuff, so what keys would I be looking for to get and would steam trades work for trading ?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I did my first key trades today. It is EXTREMELY easy. I had no idea what they were either, but I did a bit of reading and asking some on my friends list about it.

Get some of these
http://steamcommunity.com/market/listings/440/Mann%20Co.%20Supply%20Crate%20Key

If you play your cards right, you can get keys for under 2 bucks depending on time of day. Be quick though, they sell constantly.

Then either go on ST or TF2Outpost and look for someone with the game and start negotiating. I basically extended my summer sale by a day.

Same here. They're basically a form of currency in the trade market. Its not hard at all to find a taker for keys either. They're used to open crates that drop in TF2, which I don't even play anymore.

I remember something like that back when I played crossfire, that would make sense and tf 2 is popular. Now is there a chart for key to game ratio ? I rather not low ball or over pay some one.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Nothing like that. I based my trades today on how much I paid for the keys. I didnt do it to "invest" and hope the price goes up, I did it just to get games I really wanted that I missed on the sale or didnt get that great of a markdown.

I've found you this trade: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/12980423

Also this is a search with alot of people selling the game for keys: http://www.tf2outpost.com/search/134022949

No, not the controls. Fallout 3 is more like TES with guns, and New Vegas is about atmosphere, quests, characters - just like the first games of the series. It's a bit buggy (it's Obsidian, in the end), but I'm sure you'll enjoy it more than F3.

I preferred FO3, but I would never say it was far better in almost every aspec. That hate speech is for crazy people! FO:NV is really good now most of the game-breaking release bugs have been ironed out (it was truly awful on release though!)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Hate speech? Nah. Okay I admit maybe not far better but..somewhat, let's say. At least for me. I played with both and liked far better the 3rd one than NV; I can't really say why, I just liked the pacing a lot better, found it way more interesting (I finished FO3 three times, plannig a fourth playthrough, while only finished NV once - thus the reason I bought that one at the summer sale).
I also believe that comparing FO 1 & 2 to 3 & NV is weird. Yeah, same game (I only tried out FO 1) but one is an isometric turn based strategy-ish rpg while the other is an open world fps/tps rpg. I tend to see that peeps who played the first two FO games like NV better, but being closer to the originals is really all that? Does that make it a better game? I know the powers of nostalgia, and as far as I get it that's what mostly people see in NV (or at least it always comes up).
Oh well, not that I'll ever understand it, I can't go back in the past telling the yound me to go play Fallout 1 and 2, can I?

I still think that saying Fallout 3 is TES with guns is pretty silly tho.

I had a problem with Rage on pc would play up till the after the first cut scene then crash or will have graphics rips , vampire bloodlines till i found a video on you tube to unlock the resolution and fix the loading issues, nexus sometimes will rip on me. However things like skyrim, borderlands and such work fine on max settings so I don't know if its just not working with my graphics card or just hates me. I did try to google the problem found a few forums tried their fixes but no luck so I had to uninstall it. I did have fun playing it as I tried one game even with the ripping graphics.

Also witcher 2 was a no go for me.

Just Cause 2 - has the missions, races, etc. You can basically free world.

Dishonored - Many ways to play the game. Kamikaze, secretly, and more. There is also many passages to complete the mission.

Walking Dead - The game evolves on the choices you make. You can play over and over. My favorite game of ALL time.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Dishonored I heard that the game has good mechanics but the story progression is kinda meh? I played all the WD except the dlc I like that there was many different ways to watch the game.( I like games like La Noire, and Heavy Rain.)
Just cause 2 on pc does it play well like control wise? I had it for a while on ps3 but some parts felt clunky..

Just Cause 2 does and the Dishonored story line to me wasn't meh but it's up to you.

Dishonored - worth for two playtroughs; one for low chaos/stealth, one for high chaos/rambo, nothing to do there after that. 20-30 hours max.
Walking Dead - Choices don't matter at the end, no reason to play it twice. Even if played twice it is like 20 hours combined.

Dishonored had more then just 2. Many ways to kill, get the mission done, get to the mission and a few more.

And so what if the choices didn't matter at the end for TWD? Its still fun to play different times to see what responses you get.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Many ways to kill =/ replay-ability and there are not so many ways. After few hours you try almost everything so you end up with playing either in low or high chaos. He is looking for games that he can dive in for tens of hours and that is not Dishonored or TWD (playing again just to hear few new lines?).

I didn't like TL1, it was slow, boring and almost every location/level of dungeon looked the same. But I love TL2, the best part is, of course, the multiplayer. It is very similar, one might even say remake, of Diablo 2. Design of individual ACTs is very similar (sorta forest -> deser -> dark forest/creepy jungle -> hell/inferno).

That sounds much better, 1 had me bored to death. Multiplayer is always good and Diablo 2 was a great game to me. A lot of people still playing it now, as I know its not really a "new" game? I know if a games good it will keep people playing it for a while.

There isn't much that compares with Diablo 2 LOD. It was one of the best games ever made. Solo was great, multiplayer was tremendous. I've spent countless hours on that game since 1999 and, if I had more time to game, I'd happily be climbing the new ladder even now.

Most Western RPGs or ARPGs will last you 40+ hours for 1 play-through: Witcher 1/2, any of the Elder Scroll games, Fallout 3/NV, Dragon Age (which I think is bad, but you might like it).

If don't care much about graphics, you can also give older or indie RPGs a shot: Avernum, Avadon, Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment, etc. I'd get those through bundles or GoG rather than Steam though.

Dishonored will last 10-40 hours for a play through - if you like stealth and secret-hunting, more toward 40 hours. Deus Ex and Deus Ex HR should both last you just as long as well.

I have the Witcher 1/2 however I couldn't get them to run well on my computer sadly they looked like a lot of fun.

I like dragon age 2 more then 1 on my ps3.

Well, just looking at my library right here... Killing Floor, if you like a Nazi-Zombies type of game except it's more of an arena than a barricaded defense-type of game. Terraria could be worth your while if you like to build yet also like to pummel enemies with a variety of weapons. Think Minecraft, but 2D. And better gameplay-wise. Age of Empires is the classic 'Create-A-Civilization' style of game. Strategy, and what-not. System Shock 2 is just a classic game that is well worth your time. What I've heard about it, is that it's influenced several games(Only name I can think of right now is Bioshock). Bioshock has also got a lot of replay value, considering it's got two different endings and an armoury of abilities and weapons to upgrade / buy / etc.

If you want replayability, you have to go to RPGs, there's no other way. Having said that, I think Torchlight II is a good choice. You have 4 very different characters, 2 playthroughs with each character (each of those, at least 20 to 25 hours long), which you can level up to 100 btw, plus all sorts of crazy content on the Steam Workshop (including new characters). You can play coop online or lan, and, on top of it all, each time you start a new game, the worlds will be randomly created, which means, that you'll never walk through the same world twice between characters. So yeah, awesome game.
