S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series

for survival(without finding shelter, food etc): Silent Hill series, Resident Evil series, Zombie mode in COD WaW and BO, Penumbra series, Cold Fear.

Lone Survivor is well... about survival. But it's pretty short and only single player. Still a great game tho.

Metro 2033

A great game that has not been released yet (in open alpha - works really bad on most computers as it is not optimized) is starforge.

The upcoming Tomb Raider appears to have a large survival aspect to it. It's not released until March 2013 though, and also has no co-op/multiplayer.

There was this one game, extremely hard and with a very ugly UI. Based on a post apocalyptic setting, I think it's a browser or flash game, but the concept is very good. You had to eat, drink water, use bandages. Can't remember the name, sorry. Oh, I think it was something with thebword "scavenge "

So theres not so much survival games moast are map after map or mission after mission

and i forgot dead island and dead rising i more like open worlds game beacuse you can explore come back to the place you started its like you can play longer how you want but mission after mission are kinda boring

I've played Day Z for 90ish hours over the past two weeks.

It is amazing, a game experience not to be missed by any serious enthusiast. It has brought some of the most tense and intense moments I have ever experienced.

Deadly 30. 2D zombie survival game... thingy

Fallout 3, there are some minecraft copies like fortress craft. Ummm... Warcraft III and Starcraft 2 there are bunch of custom survival games.

Fallout Online 2238 (FOnline2238)! It's a "free" (means you need some Fallout 2 files) post apocalyptic MMO indie game based on Fallout 1/2 graphics.

It's like Minecraft with HD graphics, real physics and guns, with Zergs hunting you down instead of Zombies. Oh and it's free to play.

I think everyone has taken most if not all of them already... I'm probably repeating myself but definitely look into Starbound (as redeemer as said) and maybe Penumbra? Though that isn't really survival so much...
