Definitely this.
Also, I kinda have the same problem.
Always waiting for that magic time that will surely come out of the nowhere so I am fully able to play videogames, and only play videogames.
I own 120 videogames on Steam, and I must have played half of them.

yep, kinda the same here I recently bought many which I haven't even installed yet

I didn't buy that many games when I was younger, but now I'm addicted to buying games... pretty weird :D

I don't usually respond to month old posts but since this thread was already bumped, I see no harm in saying that I completely agree with you.
My wallet doesn't understand it either.

If you can afford them then get them as you never know, in the future at some point you may find yourself with less cash for a whiles (like first home / wedding / baby whatever) then at least you have something new to play.

I use to be like that, but then I took stock of just how many bloody games I have compared to free time to play them and I havnt bought a game since.
I mean, really, I have several thousand hours worth of games yet to play through, which maybe 10hours a week able to be used for gaming. I really can wait for price of games to drop to dirt cheap levels.

that's what I mean! But for some reason I feel the urge to buy them like I won't be able to if I don't buy them when they're in sale.

I understand that some games you just can't pass up or they come with an awesome pre-order bonus (though normally that's reserved for console titles) but yeah, with full-time college + work I have very little few time for months on end (heh on my cellphone right now waiting for the Green line). I have a decent-sized backlog of console/handheld/PC titles that I just try and prioritize my best. It's sad now, I actually get happy when there are lulls in game releases (which doesn't really happy on the PC as if there isn't a new game there is likely a new bargain) =p. Doesn't stop me though, I know I will have an awesome Winter break (literally hundreds of hours of gaming lined up) and even if I have only touched 80 or so of the 300+ games I have installed on Steam, most of my funds still likely went to a good cause (like a charity but at the very least a worthy developer).

one day/week/month we'll be able to play those games.

Well you should feel lucky for being a college student, because later on when you are going to work in a full time job,
your game time might be much less compared to what is now!!!
So, how are you gonna deal with it atm?

yeah schedules are very important, but sometimes when I finished my school stuff I don't feel like playing games which is too bad lol, but I see your point

Then don't play games when you're not in the right mood! It's simple as that.
I'm an old school gamer from the days of 8bit computers and my backlog is huuuuuuuuge.
I know that I will prolly never play tons of these games and currently they are dust collectors and space occupiers lol.
At least downloaded games don't have these side effects :)

I guess that collecting games is something one will always do.. xD

I work independently (fixing computers, translations) and studying at the same time, and while i do agree with you, i do find time for my own entertainment pretty often actually.
Now that finals are pretty much over for me i'm beginning to dedicate it on gaming, while i do keep on working, i'm free to manage that time however i please, so i'll most likely just play the hell out of them.
I don't know if it's my extreme ability to procrastinate or something else, but i don't have much of a problem with time management (usually dedicate like 2 hrs or less to study, the rest for gaming while fixing computers or translating), only time when i did have such issues was when i tried to do 2 careers at the same time (an almost guaranteed suicide)

I can totally relate to you. I'm going to college, working full time and trying to support my wife and 3 kids. I have no time for games but I still buy them when there on sale. Now that Steam Big Picture has been released I can get some controllers and my kids can play the games.
The type of games I look for are indie games since they tend to run on low spec computers, which allows me to play them at work.

I know how exactly you feel... put in a hobby that takes up a lot of time and a somewhat existing social life and you're screwed mate. I've got more than 100+ plus games and I haven't played more than 100-120 hours in total and yet in a couple of years I've been having Steam, I keep on piling and piling and piling god damn games! It's like a disease! I know I won't play it EVER because of time constraint yet I buy it because one day, just one day I might, there's that 0,0001% that one day I'll play it... sometimes though I do take a huge gamble (like last couple of weeks) and I chuck all things aside, put my hobby shitnitz away and go play games... ignore my college stuff, skip classes & stuff... but that's only like once in a year when shit gets way too real for me and I need a break.

yep! there's that really small chance you'll play the game and that's enough to get you to buy it.

Just think about that: In 10 years from now the new Humble Bundle is going to have a humongous early years compilation of 1k games (yes including Skyrim) for 1 dollar ... Rofl

Less binge drinking and sex. More gaming. Problem solved.

Everytime I see a sale, somewhere on a site or on steam, I think: "oh darn, gotta buy that one"
I know they are fun games, I look them up on youtube.
I tell myself, one day you'll play them, bam... bought!
But let's be honest here.
I don't know about you guys' free time but I'm in college and my free time is pretty limited.
I keep buying games I think I will play someday. But in fact, chances are I won't even install it.
I'm close to "the real life-world" and my game-time won't increase... I'd like to know how you guys handle this problem.
Please no child-ish reactions because I know this is a problem many gamers face or have faced.
thanks
EDIT: I'm not a brainless addict, I just want some reactions
