When I try to find trades for my Humble leftovers, I find that everybody seems to already have all the games I do (even the higher-tier ones). How is this possible? The only thing I can think is that the people on this site have been checking Humble Bundle every day for at least the past year and buying every bundle they come across (which means they have way more money than I do). What do you think? Am I not dedicated or rich enough for this site? Or is there some kind of secret?

Ooh, thanks! I only knew about two of those sites! Once I get SOME amount of money, that'll be super-helpful.

Haha, I thought so. I guess it doesn't help that I redeemed to my account many games I will never play, before I realized there was something else I could do with them. Maybe I should give up on the trades for the ones I have tradeable and just give 'em away. What does it take to reach level 2 on this site, by the way?

Bundles, but most importantly games on sale that I could imagine myself playing someday (even if I don't really want to play the game right now).

I never pay full price for 1 game that "I really really want." I rather get 3 or 4 games "I kind of want" for the same price as the one "I really really want."

I'm exactly the opposite on this one. I'll pay full price for a game I know I'll play, but I'm stingy about bundles that have stuff I might play.

Tremorgames, you can do tasks and other stuff and trade those coins in for games, usually from bundles.

Was going to suggest this but you beat me to it. Tremorgames is pretty awesome though. Joined it a few months ago and I had about 70-80 games on Steam and now I have nearly 400. If you don't want to spend a lot of money buying bundles every week and you have a little spare time, you can get a lot of games easily.

Yup but depends on your country though, some are banned from the achievement games, and some countries get more tasks then others.

why does everyone have so many games? Uuuuhm, im pretty sure they just buy them, either straight out or strategize sales and opportunities and so on, isnt it obvious...?

I don't have all the bundles, but I have bought many of them. That being said, I trade bundle games for other bundle games often.

trading, keeping aware of free games, sites like this, and various subreddits like Gift of Games, RAOG, GiftsOfGaben, FreeGameFindings.

I'm sure you'll be able to find a trader if you're really persistent. But yeah, a lot of people here buy most of the humble bundles and a lot of people aren't interested in the games regardless. You'll be waiting a while.

As others said: bundles. In 1.5 years of buying bundles, I got 300+ games for my Steam library and gave away 150 games. And I only buy bundles that are relevant to me + I'm a cheapskate, most of the time I only buy a bundle if I can get the wanted games from it for less than £1 per game. So I imagine people who are willing to spend more than that have way more games :D

Instead of watching many bundle sites, I just follow http://www.epicbundle.com/ on RSS to immediately get to know about new bundles.

Bundles, seasonal sales on steam, random sales on sites like gamersgate and GMG, trading and the free games around. In just a bit over a month I've gotten over 200 titles, or if you count the holiday sale too more like 300, mostly indie ones but some triple A too. Now to find a nice, cozy cave with an internet connection and go live there for a year to play everything :P

Bundles and discounts. I've gathered 2200 games so far since 2008 (or 2009/2010, I honestly don't remember when I started buying games on Steam. Cause at first I just used it to play Half-Life 2 when it came out).

Lots of bundles and discounts.

Probably people who have the sites bookmarked and check back once in a while.

As others said, bundles. Humble is only one of a number of such game bundle sites. Some others include Indie Gala, Indie Royale, Bundle Stars, and Groupees. If you check these sites regularly, you can pick up lots of games for very low prices. Games can get re-bundled as well, giving you multiple chances to get it cheap. When you're getting games from the same sources as many other people, it can be difficult to trade them.

Have my Steam account since Septembre 2003, until July 2013 I had 15ish games (mostly Half-Life games), one year after I had 400 games. :D A good job on top of having lot's of free time because of being no more in a relationship helps hehe. Most of all, bundles helped, bought almost every bundle when there was atleast 1 interesting game in it. If there are no games I'm interested in I buy the lowest value just to support the site + charity, 1$ for the basic games which is sometimes 6-8 games. I also bought around 100 AAA-games in GOTY edition though with Summer/Spring(Halloween)/Winter(Xmas)/"Eastern Bunny" Sales. It's awesome to invest, only played around 10% of my games, knowing if there are dark times ahead, I have any game to choose out in my library to install and play. :)
