In celebration of this year's Steam Summer Sale (and the fact that I'm not broke for once), I'd like to create a gift train! However, there's a catch: you guys get to choose what games I give away. I want to make this more of a challenge and add at least a sort of game-type feature. So, I've added a few guidelines:

  1. Choose exactly 5 games. The combined price of these 5 games must be between $20 and $50 (American).
  2. Out of these 5 games, at least 1 must be non-bundled.
  3. You can choose any 5 games on Steam, on sale or not, except those more than $50 and those that cannot be given away on the site.
  4. Any mentions of Bad Rats on anyone's list could possibly be tallied up and thrown on the end of the train. Or, Bad Rats might show up in your inbox. I'm not sure yet. =D

I'll tally up the total after roughly 100 replies or about a week, whichever comes first. The top 5 games to be tallied up will compose the train. And I might as well fill up two or so slots with Bad Rats...just in case.

This is an experimental idea I literally came up with just now in my dazed, tired stupor between night shifts. I'd really like to see how this pans out, as I don't recall seeing many ideas like this here.

EDIT 1: Almost to 100 quality posts! Under 20 left before I add the final tally!
EDIT 2: We have 90 ballots in, with 13 Bad Rats! I've counted them all so far.

EDIT 3: The results are in! Our winners are:

  1. Crypt of the NecroDancer (14 votes, $3.74)
  2. Stardew Valley (13 votes, $11.99)
  3. Undertale (13 votes, $6.99)
  4. Darkest Dungeon (9 votes, $14.99)
  5. Invisible, Inc (9 votes, $6.79)
  6. 16 copies of Bad Rats! ($7.84)

I'll post the runners-up in the morning!

EDIT 4: Here's the runners-up!

  1. Ryse: Son of Rome (8 votes, $4.99)
  2. This War of Mine (8 votes, $4.99)
  3. Transistor (8 votes, $4.99)
  4. Firewatch (7 votes, $13.39)
  5. The Long Dark (7 votes, $6.79)
  6. Subnautica (7 votes, $11.99)
  7. Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (7 votes, $24.99)

Awesome!
Just took a quick peek at my wishlist and this is my list:

  1. Clandestine
  2. Salt
  3. Executive Assault
  4. Star Wars Battlefront II
  5. Paint the Town Red

Hopefully I can at least bring some awareness to these games as well, since I've never seen them on here (except for nr 4) and they all look/are awesome.

Ok, I would say:

  1. Crypt of the NecroDancer
  2. Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale
  3. Ryse: Son of Rome
  4. Transistor
  5. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

I tried going for a bit cheaper games that still are good/would get very happy winners. I mixed some games from my wishlist and some I already own and think others would enjoy. All non bundled and a total of €22.20, should be something similar in dollars. Then you might perhaps have room for a few other games in the train (or multiple copies), if your budget is up to $50.

Haha, is there a possibility that you have good taste and I'm good at guessing what people with good taste would enjoy? ;)

I know it was. I wanted to buy the game when it released on Xbox One. But I didn't for some reason. But now after playing it myself I just had to say it haha.

For anyone on my whitelist, this thread inspired me to do whitelist giveaways for these games. Didn't have enough blue hearts with Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale on their wishlists though, so I added D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die instead.

Sorry, I don't know the $ prices of these games. But these are some fun games for a train near your budget.

Edit: The games are in random order btw. It's not that I would like #1 more then #5
Edit 2: Added $ prices thanks to Sooth
Edit 3: Dark Souls isn't giftable on Steam Gifts. Thanks to Ambidot for telling me. :)

  1. Far Cry 3 € 4,99 // $ ?,??

I only know Euro prices, as this is my Steam zone, but I think Steam converts most 1:1, so this should be somewhat near the amount you desired:

1979 Revolution: Black Friday - € 5.99
Assassin’s Creed® Chronicles: China - € 4.99
Oxenfree - € 9.99
The Flame in the Flood - € 13,99
Traverser - € 3.74

Total: € 38.70

by the way, if you use Enhanced Steam for Chrome or Firefox, it tells you the current lowest price and historical lowest price in $ next to your own currency for the store price.

As far as I know, all unbundled. And kind-of a random list.

Total: 46.80 81.95

1979 Revolution: Black Friday 5.99 11.99
Shovel Knight 10.04 14.99
Stardew Valley 11.99 14.99
The Long Dark 6.79 19.99
Subnautica 11.99 19.99

I own Shovel Knight on the Wii U (and backed it). I also own Subnautica and Stardew on steam.

All but 1979 are on the community wishlist.

Love the idea! Here are my choices:

The Room $1.24
Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale $4.99
Fairy Fencer F $7.49
Republique $12.49
Armello $14.99

Total: $41.2
I believe only The Room has been bundled

The first 3 I already have and HIGHLY recommend them while the last 2 come from my wishlist. Cheers!
