Which?
Hi!
How long is the wire of the controller?
Thanks!

I have an Xbox 360 wired. The console games got too expensive for me, so I no longer play on it. I have a wireless and wired controller for it, so I use the wired one on my PC. I don't even know if/how you can use the wireless one, but it would be of no use to me anyway, since my computer screen is not huge and I prefer to be closer to my keyboard and mouse.
I guess it depends on how much money you have and your needs. I already had the controller and was used to it, so that is what I have been using. :)

To use a wireless one you need one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Official-Wireless-Gaming-Receiver-Windows/dp/B000MGVAAQ

Ah, cool. And pretty affordable, if one has a solid system, a comfy seat and would prefer the distance. :) Plus, my bed is like 1 meter away, so I can still play on it with the wired one. I just have a screen that's best viewed up close.

there are even generic ones that work as well: http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Gaming-Receiver-360-xbox360-Compact/dp/B0076HD2W8/

Yeah, I wasn't specifically looking for the official one that was just the top result.

Xbox 360 wired, it's the one I use, it will automatically work with pretty much every game with controller support and you won't need the wireless since you'll play right in front of your computer and not at the other side of the room like with a console

Xbox 360 Wired, i have two and will buy again if needed.

Since I prefer wired stuff on the PC, the XBox One is very, very good IMO... 100% compatibility with the older model, and better quality/feel

I'd say the xbox one. It's better than the 360 one and the dpad is waaaaaaaaay better, it's an improved version of the 360 controller. Since they cost the same I'd go for the newer option and wait for an adapter for using it wirelessly.
(I'd skip the playstation controllers due to the hassle of installing proper drivers instead of just plugging it in)

The D-Pad is quite important to me (retro games), and I've played with the 360 before and disliked its looseness.
And it's true that they cost the same.
I'm just a bit worried about the usb wire not being fixed well.

At first I bought a X360 wireless controller, which has very good sticks but the D-Pad is total trash. For my platforming games it is therefore unsuitable. The D-Pad is a little loose and has 8 directions. On normal D-Pads you press right+up for the diagonal movement, but on the x360 the diagonal is seperate and will constantly overlap with the straight directions.
I'm using a Logitech F710 now and i'm pleased with it. The rumble motors are weak and the sticks feel a little less good than the x360 ones, but they are still very good and the D-Pad is very precise.
(Edit:) It uses the x360 drivers and layout, therefore will work exactly the same with games.
I did not try the xOne controller, because it's still wired on PC and disqualifies for me.

Never used a PS4 one, but I use my PS3 controllers and they work a treat. You can use pretty much any 'ol $1 eBay Bluetooth USB adapter to use them wirelessly. Easy to set up with either MotionInJoy or SCP drivers to get them emulated as 360 pads for games.
The 360 controller works pretty well for modern games, but the deal breaker for me is the D-pad on them. It's pretty crap, though I hear you can make it better by sanding around the plastic.
Edit: Oh, and another perk is that you can use them on a rooted Android phone or tablet. Pretty snazzy if you decide to play some games on a TV with HDMI while you're away from home.

i have both xbox 360 and xbox one controllers. the one controller is far better than the 360 imho. it fits better in my hands, the shoulderbumpers and the triggers are far better designed than the 360 ones. oh and it has a real d-pad ;)
you need a micro-usb cable though to connect it to your pc.

I've had both XBox 360 wired and wireless, I now have XBox One.
On the one hand, I like XBox 360 ergonomics better, XBox One is still really good, but something about its ergonomics doesn't feels right (the D-Pad on XBox One is waaaay better though).
On the other hand, you should keep in mind, that, IIRC , Xbox One wireless adapter will come out later this year, and Xbox One Controller can be charged via USB, unlike X360 wireless, that uses rechargeable batteries.

It depends on what you intend to play. The Xbox controller has a horrible D-pad, which makes it a bad choice for 2D platformers and other games that are more D-pad heavy, but excellent sticks. The Logitech controllers have far better D-pads, but worse sticks.

I use the DualShock 3 with Bluetooth. As I own a Playstation 3, I'm happy I can use them there as well.

Personaly i got Xbox ONE and used Xbox 360 before. Preffer the XboxOne controller, is more ergonomic (at least for me) but the problem is the price. Don't know where you get it for 30€, cause i paid like 50€ for mine.

Like most of people here, I'd suggest the wired 360. The wire is not too short, so unless you really need a wireless one, you'll be fine and won't have to deal with low power. It's also the most natively compatible controller with most games.

As the most said before: XBox 360. If wired or wireless - think its unimportant. I use the wireless version, because I am often sitting on my couch and playing it on my TV Screen. The XBox Controller have one advantage to all other one: easy compatibility with the Windows versions. Thats the main reason why I`ll never use another controller for playing on my computer

I'm not sure which to buy. Would go for the Xbox One, if it Microsoft would release the wireless adapter after 18 months already. I bet they'll charge you another 20 bucks for it, too.
Though, I'd pay the same for an Xbox One and Xbox 360 controller, so...
Which one do you prefer?
/edit Quickly checked the prices for comparison:
Xbox 360 Wired 28€
Xbox One 30€
Xbox 360 Wireless 35€
Logitech F710 40€
PS4 53€
The point is, that the One is almost the same price as the 360, and both can be used wired. The fomer maybe wireless in future. Also, the D-Pad is important to me. If the 360 wouldn't have such a crappy one, there would have been no doubt for me to pick it.
Of course most of you know/own the 360 and therefore suggest it. But have you actually used them in direct comparison?
I've been to my local electronic store before and had my hands on them both. Have to admit, that the One made a better initial impression.
