do you know someone that has depression or is urself depressed?
+1
Really enjoyed that one, the game had an impact on me. Lots of games you finish and kind of shrug your shoulders but I found that one had a powerful message that stayed with me for a while. Throw in the distinctive art style and slight weirdness of it all and it was a good one. My only beef was that I didn't like some of the voice acting, but I thought the main character of Susan was done well.

+1 Probably the best depiction of depression I've ever seen in art (well, alongside with Trier's "Melancholia").

Most SH games/movies/comics/novels deal with an overly depressed character. The largest reason it is not that widely known is that this premise, or more likely learning the nature of this state is the core concept of most of these stories.
Good news is that SH2-4 are on PC, bad news, only on disks. You can also watch a slow longplay of those, but that 20-30 hours are probably better spent playing, feeling the actual atmosphere as it is an important part, especially in the early games.

Fair enough. :) Just make sure you are ready for it though, in case you have a depression yourself.
E.g. with Depression Quest one of the reviews says:
I've lived with depression for 6 year's. If you suffer from it i recomend staying away from this game, but i suppose you are a rebel and wont listen to me. Anyways be aware this game will make you feel alot worse, it brought back the suicidal side of me.
If you have a friend that you wish to know how you feel this game would be great for them, how ever. Be careful who you share it with.
Which actually held me back from playing it despite actually having it installed for 1+ year. I got enough with my own shit to wear me down, don't want encouragement in the wrong area. :P

I do not recommend playing Depression Quest as it's been made by Zoe Quinn, who is a giant **.

Non-gaming related question, is everything alright over there?

Whatever it is, I just hope that this is purely for entertainment and not for some justification on his future actions or anything. Not that I'm implying anything, mind you

Hmm, very troubling..
To the OP, if you need to vent or finding someone to talk to, you can always post in DesertMouse's You're Not Alone thread. There's a lot of people who are more than willing to lend an ear to what you're going through.

After taking a look at your profile I'll assume you're both depressed and suicidal, in which case I don't think playing those sorts of games is a good idea. Even if they don't make it worse they're unlikely to make you feel any better.
You should focus on playing games that will make you feel better, or games that will take your mind off from whatever is troubling you. But I would recommend dealing with your issues instead if possible or at least talking with someone about it.
If you're not comfortable talking about your issues with family or friends, then you could try talking with someone online instead. You will likely find someone willing to talk to you in the You're Not Alone thread which Justin suggested above.

Exactly. Search and play some cheerful games instead.

I'm not a doctor, so my opinion on the matter is next to worthless, but it doesn't look like he's actually depressed. I think he's just alone and wants some attention.

It's possible, but I think it's better to treat this kind of situations with assumption that the person is indeed depressed/suicidal.
For if he really is suffering from depression and suicidal thoughts then perhaps what I said will help and that would be great. If he's a troll or attention whore then I just lost a minute or two of my time which is something I can live with.

here's this thread which has a list of mental awareness games neatly categorised

There was a similar thread about that, so I'll copy-paste here the comment that I made there (I added some more games though). xD
I don't remember them all, but here are some of them: Neverending Nightmares, Hotline Miami, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, Fran Bow, The Lady, The Cat Lady, Actual Sunlight, Depression Quest.

I really suggest you don't play these games and talk to someone instead. I can't really stop you but I really hope you can take my advice. If you are worried about who will listen, then you can talk to me. Just add me on Steam on anytime, and I will make you feel better.
