Something cheaper..

If you are not willing to spend at least that much, you're not going to get something good. The best keyboard for gaming, IMO, is the SteelSeries 6Gv2 mechanical keyboard. It doesn't have a bunch of useless gaming keys, but it has performance and durability that destroys any completely plastic keyboard made by Razer or Logitech.

Wrong.

MX Blacks with a subpar stabilizer. The best mechanical keyboards are WASD, Filco, Rosewill, Ducky, and Leopold for the superior build quality and Costar stabilizer (in the case of WASD, Filco, and Rosewill)

That's a lot of money for a "gamer keyboard." Seriously, it's a keyboard. When one dies you throw it out and get another one. I have a great keyboard ~ it's wireless(doesn't use a lot of batteries) very low profile. The name on the keyboard is i-rocks. Check out newegg.com. They have everything and their prices are comparable to or better than other places.

I use a red cherry mechanical keyboard. You should look into them. I've personally also used blue cherry, and I really liked the feel of it a lot better (fantastic tactile feedback) but it's louder than hell and I don't want to disrupt the lady friend or bother people with my loud as hell "TICKA TICKA TICKA TICKA". they are typically a little pricier, but they'll last you a lot longer.

Brown Cherry MX switches are tactile but not clicky like blue switches, which means they're quieter. I first ordered a keyboard with the red switches but I didn't like the feel of them at all, so I returned the keyboard and got one with the brown switches.

MX switches all last around the same time. Its not like Blues are suddenly going to last longer than reds.

I just liked the feeling of the blues more. They were just too loud for me to use casually. If browns maintain the tactile support without the "clickyness" I'll probably give them a shot next.

It does sound like you want browns.

I was gonna say Das but then you said cheap...

So I have to go with Sidewinder X4, its a great keyboard for the price and probably is better then most Razer ones that are not mechanical.

Yes, if he can find the X6 I recommend that.

If you want it for the leds, how about this one? This one looks a lot better for gamers (shortcuts are customizable), but I could only find it in German websites. If you don't like any with them, go with MS Sidewinter X4 or Logitech G110.

I've gotten a G105 not long ago (albeit with a huge discount).

THE QUICK BROWN FOX UMPS OVER THE LAZY DOG

Pretty good I'd say, and in my case, worth every cent(60€ for the keyboard and a g9x)

On a side note, if you're really low on cash, try the Sharkoon Tactix, to be released sometime soon in Europe. Will cost probably under 10 pounds for you. God save the Queen!

EDIT: I'm retarded. Used Jumps instead of Jumped but mixed up Quick and Little. Oh well, fixed version.

But yeah, it shows that I'm only missing 1 letter while holding 2 shifts, which while perfect is not half bad. My laptop's keyboard version:

TE QUICK BROWN FOX JUP OVER TE LAZY O

It's "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog", which uses all the letters in the English alphabet. :P

There are no gaming keyboards. All the korean sc2-pros use standard DT-35 keyboards - which are absolut standard 5$ keyboards.
Buy the cheapest mechanical keyboard you can find.

Because Starcraft 2 is the only game.
And yes, there are gaming keyboards. It's a gaming keyboard because it has programmable keys, much like what separates a "gaming mouse" from a standard mouse is having extra buttons that are programmable.

Not particularly, especially since I'm a regular poster on geekhack, and OCN. I never see this guy around. Of course you don't have to post on there to be informed but most people who are informed generally do post in Geekhack/Deskthority.

Yeah I never ended up using the extra features of the G15 but mine is lasting just as long. Just as quick as it was day 1 and never gives me multiple key press issues.

I would recommend a Corsair K90, it has all the macro keys of the OLD G15, with Cherry MX Red switches, and it is about 115 USD. Here is the cheapest I found it during the 5 minutes of looking. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-002-CS

It is a great keyboard, enough fancy doodads to make it convenient for gamers, with the mechanical expertise that pros want. Not to mention if you type much it will be beautiful.

I've got a Quick Fire Rapid from CoolerMaster with Cherry Blues. Damn nice to type and game on, and it just passed the four-month mark. Good as new, and I got it for $65 on sale when it's regular $100. :) Still no key wear, unlike some other boards cough SteelSeries 6GV2 total letter loss in 3 days cough. XD
