I wanna buy stuff on the steam store but the Australian store's games are more expensive than the US store's games and they both use $USD. =/

It won't let me use my steam wallet funds to buy off the US store either.

EDIT:

Would you guys pay $19USD for the Bioshock bundle??

It's because Australians are rich compared to the US. I just sell some of my stockpile of gold plated wallaby poo when I want to buy a game from Steam. Or if they're constipated I give Amazon, Gamersgate etc a try.

We have to pay in $USD and 1USD$ is not equal to 1AUD$.

That's part of it, but just a few months ago the AUD was worth more than the USD and we still paid the same prices. Some publishers just ask more for their games here because they can.

No AUD doesn't factor into this after we purchase Steam credit we pay more to convert out AUD into USD, Example when I get a $50 Steam wallet code from a game store it costs me $55, And I believe that is because of the conversion rates, Plus USD AUD conversions wouldn't explain huge price gaps like $60 (Original price of Bioshock Infinite)

no, its because of price gouging, nothing more. publishers got away with it during the good ol' days of physical store bought games, and the event of digital distribution has done nothing to make prices more equitable.

woosh...

And yes, it's a shame kids have to put out the rubbish once a week to get some money. I bet they can't wait until they're all grown up and the magic fairy hands over wads of cash whenever it is needed. :p

We australians earn more money but the cost of living is higher, so it weighs out.

Just use other stores then - GMG, Amazon, GamersGate, GoG or simply buy tf2/dota2 keys and trade with peeps (few even accept PayPal and such)

As a fellow Aussie I think $19 is pretty good for the bundle, I'd probably buy it if I didn't already own the first game. Especially considering it's the same price as buying Bioshock Infinite by itself. Consider it this way, you're getting Bioshock and Bioshock 2 at 75% off ($4.99 each), you're then getting Infinite for $9. Sounds like a good deal to me.

At the end of the day, people will always complain that X country gets a better deal or price on a game, but most of the time we get pretty good deals anyway. Some of the best games I've ever played I've gotten for a fiver in a Steam sale. Sure, we all love getting good deals that shave a few extra dollars off the price, but I don't see much point in complaining about things you can't change.

Don't by from the over inflated prices on Steam.

I ended up making a site which was as a result of the price discrimination (I'm Aussie) too..

Im from Australia and no longer have this problem since I have a nice stockpile of TF2 keys I can trade for. I also have $50 worth of Steam Wallet that I have gained over the last year. It comes in handy when the prices between regions are the same. Just bought YDKJ bundle for $5!
