It's not about Hate. The conservative christians in this country see the usage of the word "Marriage" as being a distinct Definition that refers to a Holy union between a Man and a Woman. The ongoing crusade for "LGBT Marriage" is seen a an attack on traditional family values.
I'm Bisexual, I have a very talented Tongue, capable of perfoming acts of both "Cunning Linguistics" and "Deep Throat Messaging", but I have many friends who are conservative christians, and the only thing they want is for it to NOT be the word "Marriage". They could care less about the "Equal Rights" part. All they want is for people to NOT twist a word that they've had exclusive rights to for the last 1000 years to mean something different.
Hell, "Gay" people throw a fit when some one uses the word "Gay" in a manner like "That ugly sofa is Gay!", but they won't make the same allowance for the word "Marriage", despite the fact that the Word "Gay" has only been used to refer to Homosexuality for less then 100 years.
You may have heard the song "Deck the Halls" and the referance to "Gay apperal", so you may or may not know that before Homosexual men "Claimed" the word for themselves, "Gay" simply was a synonym for "Joyful".
When a person refers to something negatively as "Gay" I don't throw a fit, I take it the same way as when somebody Really likes something and they call it "Sick", which normally would be a negative word, but is instead simply a slang usage of the word.
To me, the entire "Gay Marriage" fight has been completely stupid. Had they used any other word than "Marriage", but pressed for the equal rights they deserve, they would've gotten it years ago during the Clinton administration.
Hell, the creators of South Park even addressed this very issue in Season 9 Episode 10.
Instead, I believe that the portion of the LGBT caucas that was in charge of working to achieve equal rights, pushed the word "Marriage" as a purposeful attack/revenge against conservatives that define their world by simple statements like "I'm Married".
While I won't be joining in the hate, I'm positive that the conservative christians will continue to preach Hate even louder and longer now that they've had "Gay Marriage" forced on them.

Fortunately, there's nothing they can do about it besides whine.
The problem with the civil union vs. marriage debate is that the same people were vehemently against both. There weren't any civil unions until Vermont did it 2000, but even then, the federal government refused to recognize it. If the people that had wanted to "protect" marriage had been willing to grant full and equal rights to civil unions, without restriction, there wouldn't have been any legal ground on which to challenge the institution of marriage.
Comment has been collapsed.
This is just "The Pot calling the Kettle a N!$$#&".
Frankly, instead of pushing for Marriage at the state level, they should've been focused on "Civil Union" at the federal level.
Yeah, great, they can all get "Married" now. Sorry to say, that while Homosexuality is "Natural" it's natures way of saying that your not supposed to have children, but since people who are both Alive, and Homosexual have to be Very driven, there's a new "Race" of people emerging with Gays and Lesbians sharing Sperm and Ova, with the express purpose of generating more Homosexuals.
This isn't much different then Germany's "Eugenics" program. It's an attempt to fundementally change the human Genome, and although the people doing it don't care it's gonna come back to bite the human race on the @$$.
If it continues unchecked, and the number of people who are homosexuals rises too high, then during the next "Major Cataclysm" (See Dinosaurs and Extinction), the Human race simply won't have the necessary gene pool to survive.
Of course it's likely we're gonna wipe ourselves out with pollution within the next 100 years, so a guess Humanity is totally F'd in the @$$ anyway!

Also, it would be wonderful if there were really nothing "They" could do, but unfortunately now that "They" have lost all recourse to law, they'll just turn Violent again.
Your probably not old enough to know what it was like to be a Homosexual in America before 1960, but it was sorta like a cross between the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and a continual witch hunt.
Of course the "Authorites" are much better at actually doing something about it, but what's done is done, so keep dreaming of a perfect world, because this one is a Violent place, and making people resent you is the fastest way to end up on the Recieving side.

The problem I've always had with this is basically "Same but different" argument that we've seen before, which never works out.
Comment has been collapsed.
This isn't an argument, Game Over, Yay! Gay Marriage.
I'm pointing out that the People that were against it before, now having no legal recourse, will revert to their original nature, and become even more aggressive and Violent towards those they Resent.

Ah okay, I see what you meant now. That is probably true. My Catholic hs would recruit peeps to take to the capitol to protest against abortion even though the law preventing it was struck down over a decade ago (though they didn't do that with gay marriage which was much more recent).

so "gay" word also have that meaning, , no wonder a non-english speaker like me feel so confuse to see some old music disc cover have something like "the gayest voice in the west " or something like that

Sooo...by your fucked up logic, people that don't go to church to get married, like atheists for example (I am one), don't have the right to call themselves married either? FUCK OFF!!!! Traditional Christians have NO RIGHT to the word "marriage". In a normal, democratic country The Church has no right ever interfering in state affairs. Marriage is a LEGAL RIGHT, therefore it should be inherent to all individuals. The ceremony that goes on in a Church is The Church's business, but it should never be mandatory in the eyes of the law.
Comment has been collapsed.
Maybe, but you know, that Proponents of Gay marriage long ago discovered a Traditional Catholic Ceremony that could "Spiritually Bond" you to anything else.
This translates to they had a Ceremony for Anyone, to marry "Anything"!

But oh! no, If 2 guys decide they're happy to live without women, then watch out, Cause GOD will be offended!!

Nope. The real target is freedom of religion and has been for some time.

Umm...
What was struck down was the ban on same-sex marriage. Nothing was said about same-sex marriage being legal or illegal. That leaves the door wide open for continued argument, similar to how Roe vs. Wade didn't end the issue of state-funded abortion.
The real question, though, is "Why is the government involved in marriage?" Marriage is a social contract, and quite often a religious one, too. In truth, the government should not be interfering with people's private matters.

"But they don't, and in addition they are not recognised by the federal government and some of the states. "
This is exactly what the true legal issue is, and this is exactly what those who believe in equality under the law should be addressing. Those heading the LGBT movement, however are pursuing something else entirely, directing their pawns wherever they will.
When people are calm and have their intellect engaged, they are resistant to being manipulated for goals they do not agree with. Hide those goals and whip the mob up into a frenzy, however, and they'll do your bidding like so many cattle. It's sad, but it has happened time and again throughout human history, and it will continue to happen. Learning from past mistakes takes more time and energy than the average person can muster. The solution? Critical thinking skills for all, and the selection of leaders who are actually qualified for the job.
meh... I don't see that last part happening any time soon. P

Pretty much what Yeliena said. Most LGBT do not care for the religious aspect but merely wanted the legal rights that are granted to hetero couples as well. Being legally recognized as being married grants the couple a whole slew of rights and privileges, from insurance and taxes to hospital and burial rights.
All too often when one was dying or ill, the parents would be granted the final say and not their partner of x years.
Comment has been collapsed.
exactly this - we had an extreme example in my country - 1 girl got hospitalized, her lifelong partner was not allowed to come near to her by the very family that threw her away from family home for being lesbian. Legally the people who threw her away for who she was was deciding about her, while person she loved and spent her whole adult life with was treated as a stranger and not even allowed to her deathbed.

Different places different culture. Not sure where you are coming from but here in my country every single people has to have religion or get jailed.
So for us, Government can interfere and we're fine with it for this particular matter (since it's suitable for our culture).
Comment has been collapsed.
"Different places different culture."
This is very true, of course. Human inclination is to assume that other people are like us. It is easy to forget, sometimes, that individuals vary, and that there is an entire world of them outside of one's country and culture.

Im pretty much neuturalist. I mean if someone says im an idiot, why should i think he is a idiot and should be hated? So same here. My country is still against this, but most moral and friendly people are not. Glad people have senses and morality over proofless angry rambling. I fight for good people and community.

Second heterophobic would mean that all us heteros writing here would actually be hating ourselves? wtf? Voicing yourself against homophobia is not heterophobia. It's idiotphobia. You being hetero doesn't mean you must hate homo, you being white doesn't mean you must hate black/asian, you being blonde, doesn't mean you must hate gingers.

don't keep your hopes up. young kiddo apparently doesn't know what sex is, mommy told him that babies come from when mommy and daddy love each other very much and kiss and boom - baby is made, so now when he sees any couple kissing he calls it a sex scene. Hence gif of 2 girls kissing = lesbian sex photos :D:

what are we doing on this forum? we're congratulating our gay and lesbian friends on finally achieving equal rights in USA and saying we're happy for them. the era of prophet luth (lot) is coming back and that basically the sign of world end. i'm not hater but think logically, stick with stick, sword play? but butt.. eww. hole with hole, don't you feel something's missing? yeah something long and hard. finally, stick with hole and produce babies. God already made you as is and without us, straight people how can you people born in this world. ah i get it, it as god has planned. the end cant be stopped as people helps themselves to go near destruction. i cant stop it either. god wants it. so be it. oh God, i'm not qualified in YOUR heaven but then, i also am afraid of YOUR fire.. but if i can, i want to see you guys in hell as you beg for second chance to live in this world once again and repent but there are no more chances, God already gave you plenty of chances in this life. i wont say more as i also have sinned im not that holy. i'm not that religious either but i believe in Allah. and please, a few bad seeds from us does not represent the whole. then, i guess a few gay represent the whole country. may peace be upon us. and sorry.

I am a Muslim myself and am aware of what you are saying. My response is that homosexuality is considered a sin in Islam, right? Don't be gay then. But the fact here is that people have to get equal rights regardless of sexuality, gender, creed, color or class. The fact is I am ashamed that you would see people to go to hell, because Allah also specifically stated every human is created equal to one another and only He can judge sinner from pious. Hence, you have no right to judge anyone, even if you are the most pious of us all.
Sick of close-minded Muslims representing the whole majority. Many Muslims, myself included, are happy that people are getting the rights that they deserved, regardless of the life they choose to live.

its a big sin. if Allah said its sin its still sin but hey its US. tch why would i even care. no, people dont have equality in this world for what its called a sin. its lust. you succumbed to lust. here we have hudud. the right rules given from Allah to all muslim but what? muslim themselves ignore this rule and want equal rights. yeah equal right my ass, so they can escape from all the sins. which really is the way of muslim and yeah was banned. and you say it was outdated rule. never!, Allah give that to all muslim to be used forever. thanks to our ruler. we love him more. crime is lesser now. hope we are blessed in this country.

Fine. Follow whatever you believe to be the correct Muslim way. However, what gives you the right to deny others happiness. They fought for something and achieved it. You don't like it, don't pay any attention to it. They don't follow the same religion as you and hence, are not subject to its rules. They have the right to live their life the way they want to, without consequence or discrimination. You can go on living in your perfect world, with less crime and wonderful leader.

where were u in 2001 ? because netherlands was the 1st country who does that and why end of times hasnt come even after 14 years ? i have no idea if i am breaking any rules but i want to say you are utterly utterly stupid. and i dont even go to the child marriage thing here but i am extremely mad at your stupidity.

yep not until we people are gone that stand up for it. well we dont know when. but most of the sign has already emerge like really frequent natural disasters and more. not until this world have less people like us. when idiot rules and religious scholar is no more. when mekah is no more. the last thing will be the the one eyed man, ad-dajjal comes to this world beneath the earth. you may not seen it yet but im sure that day most people will worship him but some oppose because they know. and will come nabi isa (jesus) from the sky and kill him. christian believed him as the last prophet, but Mohammad was the last prophet. he just come to clear whats left and unite people but sadly the door of repent is closed by that time. even in original bible which is no more, said the coming of mohammad. bible was altered many times and have many version of it and al-quran still retain until this day which is more than a millennium because Allah protect them. this world is just a trial man and many have failed. to be exact, only a few is going to heaven. how i know all this? well its all said in al-quran and al-hadith. i dont know if im supposed to talk about it or im already sinned for doing this but yeah i think its not because people wont change. its too late

this is really not the right place to say all that.

do hell with ur hadiths and do not bring quran in that. the same hadith books u bring returning of jesus and dajjall also mention burning of quran and changes in quran https://tinyurl.com/p7kmrj6 the bukhari and muslim so this is ur religion watch the video. i respect quran but if only muslims were following it ur eid comes from hadith ur prayers come from hadith ur tradtitions comes from hadtih ur brutality ur anti womenism comes from hadith ur anti animalism such as dog comes from hadith and the list is wide quran has nothing to do with ur beliefs ur beliefs and ur stories are bull- i would love to state a verse of quran where god clearly said u cant judge from other books but yall muslims do judge from other books the books of hadith u call.
Chapter 68, Verse 36,37,38,39: what is the matter with you then, how do you judge? or, have you a book from which you study surely in it you shall have whatever you choose! or, have you an oath from us that stretches to the day of resurrection (if so) you shall surely have what you judge!
Ban me if ye wanna ban me but the truth is truth muslims are the infidels according to quran.

typical - you go all flame war, telling why everyone gonna die because of what they stand for - yet when presented with counterarguments from sources you yourself refer to - you suddenly go peaceful, calmly and neglect any argument, because out of nowhere you see that "you won't get to us", "you're wasting your time", suddenly become very sleepy etc. All things possible other than adressing counterarguments.

i'm saying the truth. anyway the one who started is the one who replied but hey im just cool. are they? saying im stupid and all. people wont get it if they are stubborn, pretending, ego and whats more? even i wrote a whole pages more than a quran.. im here, just.. well you could say "i'm just sayin' " doing my job as human and refuse to be bystander

However, this is not the place to do that. It has been proven multiple times.

what's so awkward about it? It's normal stuff that kids ask questions about stuff. Including adult stuff. And an adult is supposed to explain it in kids way.
Do you also dislike heteros? Because if kid see obnoxious hetero couple on street, grabbing each other's asses and crotch you will have to explain?
Do you dislike animals? Because kid may see two dogs having sexy time on your lawn and start asking questions?
Do you dislike TV and internet, because a kid may by acciden't see something he's not supposed to in this age and start asking questions?
etc.

I think I posted this already in this thread but my internet went kaput so it didn't go through.
I absolutely detest gays and lesbians, but I won't go offensive on them as long as they do nothing to me. I can't stand being near one of them too.
So they can make laws to make it legal all they wish, I don't mind, as long as I am not involved.

You know that LGBT people are like others, just different tastes right?
No one will run into you the same way someone from the opposite sex will not do it. Probably you stood near many, without even knowing it. The fact is that there are intelligent and stupid people, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race or everything else.

I for one, am happy. After so much struggle, this has been a long time coming. I may be Muslim and my religion may prohibit homosexuality but who cares? This isn't just about homosexuality, it's about equality, about people getting each and every right that the Constitution promises to provide regardless of how one chooses to live their life. Congratulations and hopefully, one step in the direction of complete equality in every regard.

I was sort of surprised not to see any threads about this already but as a straight male ally, congratulations to all the people in the USA who are now able to legally
tie that ball-and-chain around their anklebe with the person they love. Yeah, that.If people intend to spread hate then they will probably end up blacklisted.
Apparently I need to clarify this for some people. Dissenting opinions do not equate hate, I meant inflammatory or derogatory posts. I think I've only blacklisted one person so far, although some of you may already be on my list. (Written about 3 hours after I originally posted this.)
