Intel HD 4000 is only an integrated gpu (in cpu) so don't expect too much for gaming. Maybe turn down the graphic settings.
I think you should be able to play games like cs 1.6 on full max settings, but not poe or darksiders (does darksiders even run on this laptop?).

Does this happen only in Darksiders or at all games and does the laptop get hot?

You know, there are so many potential sources for errors. Maybe you have some malware or something but maybe its just dust. So if you are able to open your laptop and clean it inside, it would be a good start, but only if you feel safe to do so.

I think is just because you make your CPU with integrated graphics suffocate by making it running games like Darksiders/2, you may also have not best CPU fan, I don't think you have a malware, I think is just a normal case with these conditions, playing this kind of games on a laptop with integrated graphics is a bad idea, even on minimum. You shouldn't buy a laptop with integrated graphics in the first place, it's supposed to be for documents and internet not for gaming.

Try increasing your fan speed? My brother did that and his FPS doesn't go up and down much.
