While the user reviews are low, the critic reviews rate higher. Chances are its because of people unwilling to learn the game, but I'll leave it up to you.

The main complaints I know of were that there was a huge amount of day one dlc (roughly 30 or 40 dollars' worth, which is crazy) and people said that the game had been dumbed down or there was less depth or something. I know a lot of people who hate day one dlc and it could've gotten a ton of negative reviews just for that.

I haven't tried it myself, but I want to give it a try when I feel like playing. Anyone knows if it's really bad or not?

I would but I'm spread thin on points at the moment as it is. Didn't help that I wasted 60 points on that AC IV giveaway from that one dude (he later deleted his remaining AOE III giveaway for reason "did not understand how site works" btw). Should have listened to my gut on that one and not taken the plunge. Oh well, lesson learned. I feel bad for the winner though. Without any proven giveaway history as a new user, it seems that no matter what someone says you can't really trust it.
