I noticed that GAs are getting fewer and fewer these days, except Humble keys, or maybe I ignore a lot of games. Let me know if you noticed too or not. Here's all I got since March, saving some for summer sale. Please allow me to delete this GA if there is any region lock I missed, enjoy =)

The number of giveaways is pretty much the same since 2019, the quality though has dropped a lot.

When Steam stopped allowing people to keep gifts in their inventory, everything went to hell. Then IGN bought HB and "Greenlight" messed over Groupees and developers got sick of being screwed by various bundle sites. So yeah, here we are in the wasteland.

Thing is, gifting something unbundled to the mass of SG becomes an exercise in ungratefulness. I try to do it around the holidays but so many years I don't even get basic common decency with a thank-you. So yeah, then it's only gifting to groups or high levels that usually know they better send a thank-you. I mean, how effing difficult is it to write six letters with "thanks"?

So yeah, my 50 to 100 gift trains that I used to do? I stopped expending the incredible amount of time they took because a few asses could not be bothered to take 5 seconds to say thanks. I likely won't be bothered with the holiday events this year either and even if I do, it won't include me buying something excellent in the top wish-listed, unbundled game list.

You want to fuck off simple manners? Then you won't be getting me to spend my hard-earned dollars on you. Simple, right?

"how effing difficult is it to write six letters with "thanks"?"
Problem is people creating bots to write "thanks" on every entered giveaway, making the givers' notification bloated with spam, leading to mass bans of anyone writing "thanks" without checking if they write it before or after the deadline or if they sincerely want to thank the givers for the opportunity. The result is not many bother to thank anymore in fear of getting banned indiscriminately.

I just meant when they win something from me - then a "thanks" shouldn't be all that difficult, right?

Fear is a powerful thing, however small it may be. And not anybody want to take a gamble when there're safer options out there.

You may not ban anyone saying thanks generically or by using bots, but if you don't specifically write that down nobody would know. Maybe you block anyone saying thanks right after entering, but not one who won from you, but if you don't specifically write that down nobody would know. We all have to guess the intention of the giver, and for some it's safer, whether based on experience or intuition, to just not saying anything. Even now, whenever I win a giveaway and there're already lots of "thanks!" comments, I usually try to write something appreciative without the word "thank" in it just to be safe; who knows the giver uses a program to blacklist anyone with that word in their comment or not.

If everybody would just state clearly their policy (e.g.: "Don't thank me, unless you're the winner.", "Thanks are okay even if you haven't won", "No thanks of any kind" etc.) then we'd probably all get what we want, but honestly asking for "common" sense like this looks kind of tacky and tasteless to a lot of people so...

I get that. Not only do folks not say thank you for my gifts, they also don't take a few seconds of their time to answer the questions I put on my giveaways. I usually get only a few individuals willing to spend a bit of time to read and answer what I've asked. Of course that means I've only got a few people that occasionally receive special treatment in the form of secret or whitelist giveaways. I've already done one of them.

Rudeasses just miss out.
