A little trading cards question.

I remember reading somewhere that when you get levels, you get 100xp times the level. For example, if I get a Level 3 badge, I get 300 xp.
That seems wrong, as I only get 100xp per badge. Is this normal or have I misunderstood how trading cards work?

You get 100 xp per lvl to a cumulative of 500 in total for lvl 5.
