I'm not exactly good at drawing but the temptation of making a summer christmas themed calendar is strong, I was actually happy that one time valve decided to give some representation to the southern hemisphere with their holidays sale.

So, I had an idea back when I wrote the original reply and even tried doing a little sketch of it to follow. The thing is that then I procrastinated the whole month and when I came back to it a couple of days ago I didn't knew how to continue and what started as a pixel art attempt at an upside down forest went into a bit of a tangent, a few times, and it's now a low poly island of sorts? Yeah, not sure where this is going but it's not gonna be christmas themed so I'm officially dropping from the competition :P

I wish I could try but I never really graduated the Potato Drawing stage of art so, although a potato-themed Advent Calendar would be perfect for SG, I will let better artists give it their best instead. I will participate in the even though.

I see a choir of 24 computer game characters, their mouths are the doors.
One by one their bottom jaws drop to open the mouth and reveal a "door" :P

Can I get a clarification though -- should it all be a single flat image, or should we provide a second image just for door backgrounds and/or The-Thing-You-Find-Inside for when a door is opened?

A single flat image would be enough.
Last year I "created" the images in the door and the year before jbondguy007 helped me.
But if someone want to create something inside the door I would not say no. :)
