Thanks for this post tobicapullo; I managed to find out about the RAY TRACING Quake 2 MOD cause of you!
Kao the Kangaroo game reminds me of the Crash Bandicoot series (for PS1)
I've played Hercules on PS1 and it had cool scrolling backgrounds -- and within it, a cheering little minotaur would advance through the stage!

Not sure if that's an old or new game.

That's not a original Double Dragon game. Maybe stolen assets.

OH MY WORD!! Commandos 2 is one of the best games I played growing up. Straight to the wishlist it goes.

I kinda wish they did this to the first game and its expansion disk. Commandos 2 was an enormous step up in terms of level design, story, and available tools, but the actual gameplay was incredibly simplistic and repetitive: throw cigarettes or wine, knock out guard, tie guard, stash guard somewhere, move to next. Repeat around 860 times and win the game. Beyond the Call of Duty required several methods to dispatch guards, especially on levels that had an instant game over when an alarm sounded.

Maybe this UPDATE in the mainpost?
And After few weeks, I remove the first ones?
The latest in the bottom of the table.

New TRIALS of MANA too, but it don't count as retro. But it's a great retro series
I hope Collection of Mana comes to Steam too. :)

but it don't count as retro
I mean, it was originally released in 1995, and the emulation crowd was playing it heavily by the early 2000s. As I can attest. :P
That'd put even the emulation play-range not too far away from games like Age of Empires II. :)
'Course, emulation'd still make it a niche-retro, like arcade cabinet or neo-geo games, but retro nonetheless.
Though there's the consideration that this is a full remake, not a remaster, so in that sense, it definitely wouldn't count as retro.
Between Trials and FF7, it looks as though classic JRPG remakes are getting much more ambitious [than, for example, the remakes of Zelda: Link to the Past or early FF games]. If that trend keeps getting us compelling looking new RPGs that also manage to pleasantly twinge the nostalgia factor, then I can only hope they keep at it.
..personally, I'd really be keen on remakes of the early Shining games.. ^.^

10 games and many extras and features. It's cool.
I mean so many user want retros for free or think every price is to expensive.
I like it, because you can play these only with many consoles or mods. And the original cardridges are expensive too...
Wait for a sale, then is the price not the problem. I love the Contra series, so I think I buy it.

They shattered the soldier too hard the first time around, they're still putting him back together. True story.
I took a look, and your guess is as good as mine, I don't see any clear indication as to why it would have been skipped over. Though my money is in the stylistic difference between it and the other games, and a likely intent to list it separately from the collection.

Already posted, but thanks. I missed to list it. :D

Like Crash Bandicoot as exception :D
They never released the originals on Steam, but the franchise is to huge for me, to ignore it to retro. :D

hehe ok :P here's one not mentioned yet though https://store.steampowered.com/app/813780/Age_of_Empires_II_Definitive_Edition/

Because it was already out and now on Steam. :)
My childhood was Part 1 and yeeeeears later the second. But I like both, and preetty awesome to have these on Steam now. :)
(For more retros, you can join my retro group hehe)

The Age of Empires games were revolutionary, and I still can't think of any RTS games [which aren't primarily civilization builders and RTS games second] which convey such a sense of exploration and civilization-building. ..that said, the original AoE was barebones on graphics and quality-of-life features, even for its era, so I was more than happy to move over to the much richer AoE2 ASAP. :P
Even now, even were it updated in graphics and conveniences and gameplay flow all, the first AoE would likely still pale by comparison to AoE2, ambitious and rich of a sequel as it was. In that sense, perhaps it's similar to Starcraft in comparison to Warcraft II. ^.^
..then again, I'd be quite intrigued to play a Warcraft/Starcraft crossover game. In that sense, I suppose AoE2 was derivative in its own way- after all, you cross over AoE and AoE2, and all you'll get is AoE2 with some uglier units running around. :P /humor

AoE and and C&C was the most of RTS in my childhood. :D
And AoE II engine gave us the great https://store.steampowered.com/app/356500/STAR_WARS_Galactic_Battlegrounds_Saga/ as well. :)

Hopefully, in this potential future re-release, they also take the time to work out the issues in the more recent expansion, as well. A full graphical rework with new content [that is actually worth playing] could be enough to make it feel like a brand new game. ^.^

Your current thread title is.. ah.. very.. creative?
However, if your intent is to make something understandable by the rest of SG, may I suggest something along the lines of:
Retro Games on Steam - New Additions: Contra, Spyro, Commandos 2, and Praetorians
or, if you're keen on retaining the brackets for visibility:
[Retro Games on Steam] New Additions: Contra, Spyro, Commandos 2, and Praetorians
Also, typically the General category is used for things related to general gaming and especially Steam gaming, so putting the thread in Off-Topic may initially mislead some (at least, within the context of the current, hard-to-decipher thread title). Or, y'know, there's always the Puzzles forum. :3

That idea is the better title for this thread, thanks. :D

I played these on DOS and Hard Corps on Genesis.

This thread is for all new retros, these added in the future on Steam. (feed) It's a reboot thead, because the last one incl. my retro group mention (sometimes with curator) and less Giveaways. (It was closed, so I hope this is now okay as source for original retros from 19xx to 2006) Remaster with the same game content are allowed, but no remakes. (You can mention it, but it don't count as "retro" in group or "counter" :D)
Enjoy
