I am considering getting premium service from Origin for $24 since I have Close Quarters and its great fun. What will the download size be excluding Close Quarters since I have that downloaded already?

Also, $24 is a good deal even though I have Close Quarters?

Not really sure on the download size but I'm checking at my game folder and found folders called "Xpack1 - Xpack5" which is probably the DLC and I checked file size from Xpack 2 - Xpack 5 and it's 14.3GB.

As for the price, I think it's a good deal.. I payed $59.99 for my premium when it came out but IMO the only expansion pack maps I liked was Close Quarters and Armored Kill. The premium weapons is nice to have but I still play a lot more with default weapons :)

So if I get anything I should just go for Armored Kill? Are the other's just "rehashes" of vanilla maps? (by rehashes I mean very similar)

No, best expansion pack is by far Back to Karkand. But, if you got it already from preordering or something, then get Endgame. IMO Armored Kill is the worst and least played expansion pack. If i had to rank them, it would be:
B2K>CQ>EG>AM>AK

Premium for 24 bucks... Where i live, each pack by it self is 24 bucks, so i suggest you get premium, even if you do have CQ.

To answer your other question, i found that Armored Kill maps were the most similar to vanilla, followed by Endgame, because all the maps in these packs are wide and open, like Caspian Border mixed with Firestorm.

Add me if you want, same name on battlelog.

I think you should just buy premium and to get a little bit more into detail on the DLC I'll say this...

Back 2 Karkand = Big maps, heli, jets, buggies, tanks, nice DLC for infantry as well but only map I liked there was Wake Island.

After Math DLC = Big maps with lots of buildings and tight spots for tanks with no jets or heli's, mostly run and gun for infantry with tanks which is quite ridiculous to maneuver the tanks.

End Game DLC = Good big maps with heli, jets, bikes but Capture The Flag is a dumb game mode for Battlefield 3 IMO. Just because tanks can come and sit in your spawn and spawn kill you whilst not even having a Red Zone for the enemies. But then again, maps is quite good.

Armored Kill = Very big maps with a lot of tanks, heli and jets which I find enjoyable, I mean the game is after all called BATTLEFIELD 3, sure it might be true that it's a bit "vanilla" for 2 of the maps in the expansion pack.

But yeah we all have different opinions on things we like in games and don't like, so just get premium as it would make more sense than to buy the DLC separately and not even have premium unless you're REALLY short on cash and would only like to buy 1 DLC (which I doubt).

I am not telling you to buy AK just because of my opinion. it was just my opinion on how the maps are but it's really up to you on what you wanna do and what play style you like to play! :)

I think each expansion pack is 3 something gigs. Like 3.4ish. They were all about the same size when I downloaded them. Some might be a little smaller, but you should be looking at 3 gigs per download, on average, minimum.
