I have 80 bucks on a gift card, so I want to know the best video card I can get for 80 bucks, inc. shipping and tax. (80 bucks Canadian.)

Don't you want to do yourself a favor and double that budget? Then we can talk about something made in this decade.

I just want to use up the 80 buck gift card on somethin, and since I have a second monitor now, I'd like a video card to hook that up to (My shitty Radeon HD5450 only has an HDMI and VGA, and I don't have an HDMI cable.)

Might sound silly but why not get a hdmi cable?

I don't want to have double monitors if one is retardedly oversized in comparison to the other. (my TV is the only thing I have that accepts HDMI, my monitors (which came with the comp. Got it before I knew how to actually build or change anything in one.) only accepts VGA.

Plus, if a new video card can give me two VGA's, then I could try to get another monitor too.

As you can tell, I want the video card for the outputs, not the power. My Radeon is surprisingly powerful for its age.

If you just want to connect another monitor to your computer, and the monitor only has VGA input, and you have an HDMI output on your videocard free, why not get an HDMI male to VGA male video cable?

huh. Didn't think of that. Would still like 3 at least VGA's/HDMI's. :D

Bought a 7770 OC from Newegg at that price a couple weeks ago. Try reddit.com/r/buildapcsales. Stuff shows up all the time.

Yup, I bought that card this summer, really awesome card!

Don't exagerate, mid-end cards are just great at that price, like Radeon HD 7750.

Cheap doesn't automatically mean old... in fact, alot of old parts are more expensive than new ones... take DDR2 vs DDR3 as example.

well duh then go find in memoryexpress and filter the video card to lowest price and get that. Just giving you advice here you can get more value for your gift card

That's not what you said at all. Also, the lowest priced card is not what he wants, so your advice is pointless.

uhhh, I said "FILTER" the lowest priced card that he wants.
What I mean is if he go to memoryexpress' site, it will display the list of Video cards starting from the cheapest card going to the most expensive

You actually said " filter the video card to lowest price and get that." Pay more attention to yourself.

He's asking for a good cheap card, not just a cheap card.

w/e same shit. If you put the lowest filtered one in their site it will list the range from 0$ - around 150$
Therefore can choose a suitable card there. If you want to be a fucking english nazi then sure your right, my advice is pointless.

You are giving him the opposite of what he wants. I'm not talking about a grammar problem. Here's a paraphrase of his question and your answer.

Deliphin11: Which card do you recommend?
MDuh: All of them! Buy from anything at all from my favorite shop.

Probably this (HD 7750) this (GTX 650) or this (DDR 3 HD 7750) The last one is for if you are tied to the $80 cost before rebate. For a little more, you can get a 7790 with a free game at NCIX

If you are just looking for card models, you're probably best off trying to find a GTX 650, HD 7750 or 6670 on sale for this price point. You can sometimes find a sale on a 7770 for around $80 if you're lucky. As Digi stated above, make sure you get GDDR5.

I highly recommend the extra step for GDDR5 instead of DDR3 memory, it makes a significant diference if you want high textures, big resolutions and antialias.

the 650 and 7750 are both decent cards, depends on what you plan on doing with them :P

7750 is $94.99 (excluding shipping) in Canadian.

In the morning, I'll check out the 6670 though.

7750 is faster than 6670 at bandwidth (64gb/s vs 72gb/s) and GPU processing (compared with bitcoin mining speed), but they're pretty similar in practice, but you'll need CPU power too if you want smooth gaming.

The manufacturer affects performance as well, my friend's and mine is Sapphire.

Also, as said below, don't go for DDR3, go for GDDR5 and at least 1GB, but memory needs depend on what you'll be playing and what resolution and anti-alias you'll be using.

Do not buy a card (like those that have been suggested to you) which consumes only about 60W at max. That is just as useful as no video card at all. Up your budget and buy a video card that actually was made to run video games, and not only to make you able to run word, solitaire and facebook (exaggerating here and there, but it's the truth).

How many watts do you have? I would say a powercolour 7750 should be good for people with 400-450 watts. It's $50(or was) after rebate, and the original price is $100.

Edit: Maybe you should try ebay. They have some used cards, but in good condition. A 7850 might be as low as $80

If your goal is to just use up the card why not put some more money with the card and get a unit you're not going to have to replace to play anything next gen?

7750 probably but I would avoid cheap cards.

I see poeple keep saying to buy an expensive strong video card... but without a strong CPU and PSU to back it up you will still have low framerates.

So, @OP, what are your current specs ?

For $80 there isn't really much that is decent. Your best bet is something like a Geforce GT 8000 series.

Tom's Hardware has a great guide. They recommend the Radeon HD 6570 DDR3 at $50. They recommend not wasting money on anything else below $105. Here.

Listen to good advice. Do not buy a video card for that price. Save a little bit more money and buy one for at least 100 bucks. Otherwise, you will likely regret your decision when your system becomes bottle-necked.

Buy two Radeon GD 5770 Junipers and you'll be happy. The single card should be fairly cheap now and it's still up to snuff.
