Fricken love that game! 4 player coop sci-fi puzzley goodness! I wish they'd release a HD remake on psn :)

I actually loved that game, it's a shame that we will never see a second one.

xiii was a super awesome game - its a shame there is no sequel :(

I actually have played it. It was very good game, but I never managed to beat it. It was Genesis game emulated for PSone and burned on disc along with tons of others. Was done bad... In-game saves worked perfectly, but no possibilities to save in general killed the progress after one sudden power cut-off.

Hurray, someone else who knows the game! At least now I know it wasn't just a figment of my imagination. ;)
I remember being absolutely shocked when I discovered that my Genesis version had saved my campaign progress. First non-PC game I ever saw do that.

I also was shocked by that, when after loosing another playthrough I discovered the ability to save the game! Like I said it was all in console's RAM and once PS is turned off save files are gone, but hey, it still saved so much time.
I remember... skeletons, nuts (consumables), some curved swords (or am I wrong?), herbs of something which was my most frequently used healing item at some point of the game... Some city on the south... Gods, I have played it ten years ago...

Doh, I think we're talking about different games. The one I mentioned is a giant board with hexagonal spaces where each team gets a leader that can summon monsters that you use to capture territory, level them up, and eventually kill the opposing leader. It was sort of like Magic: The Gathering with a little bit of Civ and D&D blended in.

:O I perfectly remember that name. It was an RPG, you have few characters (three i think, but maybe four of them), you adventure across the land (not in dungenons, surprise!) and cities. I don't remember, but the story should be default - stop some (ancient) evil from destroying/taking the land/world/universe. There were a lot of skeletons, wyverns and other unusual hostile creatures all other the country.

The Legend of Dragoon, personally better then Final Fantasy for me.

I don't know if I would say better, but it was a damned good game. I got a little sick of the interactive fight system actually. It was novel at first, but then having to do the button combos during fight sequences got old.
Style reminded me of Vandal Hearts... what with the flying people et al.

I used gameshark so that the game auto combos everything for me. Made my day.

Omg I loved Legend of Dragoon. high five I never got too far in it though..

Any time somebody ever asks me "Do you know any good old RPG's" and I recommend TLoD they never seem to know what I am talking about, I was part of that movement for quiet a while until I realized how sad and pointless it was.

I have played and beat in full with 100% completion TLoD three times. I still can't stomach 100%'ing FFVII, and as much as I love FFXIII I still feel TLoD was a "more polished game" the combat system kept you engaged, you had to remember timings and combos. It just felt like a VERY solid game for the time period it came out in.

For my own posting sake for the few whos opinions feel FF is better. Only missing FF Origins and Tactics. :(

aweh hell yeah!
Played through that game twice. once was with a friend and we stayed up a day straight playing and that only got us 2 disks in. 4 disks total!! got all stardust on one playthrough. damn I love that game now I wanna play it again.

Star Wars: Republic Commando
I've ran into a few people who've heard of it, but unfortunately it never really got the popularity it deserves in my opinion. Phenomenal story, I always get depressed when I beat it... Those who have beaten it know what I'm talking about :p

I own a physical copy of it, I've played it twenty million times, I can tell where every damn enemy is gonna spawn, I know all the tactics. I love it like hell, it's one of my favourite games, but it's too short...
You should read the book series. They're excellent.

Ditto on both the game and the books. Never got past halfway through the Order 66 book though. I KNOW WHAT WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN AND I REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT. FOREVER IF NECESSARY.
Comment has been collapsed.
Nah, the books made it clear that wasn't possible. I would be interested in Imperial Commando though, or Republic Commando 2 from the perspective of Omega squad.
Comment has been collapsed.
You talking about the joint mission with the two squads, or the... "joint mission" with two certain someones? Either way, yes please.

RepCom2 was in development at one point, but it got cancelled... :/ Guess which marvellous game came out next. The Force Unleashed AKA fancy Jedi Knight without the coherent plot. And with all the changes at LucasArts, I doubt we'll ever see a sequel to the greater games. :(
"A sequel to the game was already planned well ahead of production of Republic Commando. The game was titled Star Wars: Imperial Commando and was based on the Imperial commando units-the Empire's elite ground combat troops, however the project only went as far as concept paintings, and was cancelled in 2004."
Oh, but the worst part? The Steam version is nearly broken. It's stupidly fucking difficult to get it running, every single time. -.-

I loved it too, but there was one pretty hard level I've never managed to beat, it was the one where the ship explodes.

Makai Kingdom. S-RPG from the creators of the Disgaea series. I love the characters, and its more funny than the disgaea games.
Comment has been collapsed.
Bought it long ago and was very impressed by the mechanics and overall crazyness of its univers.
Its actually that game the introduced me to the Disgaia series.

Since Starlancer and RepCom were mentioned already, I'll go for Star Trek: Elite Force and Elite Force II.

Heh, EF is still being roleplayed and modified like crazy.
Comment has been collapsed.
It is? I checked Filefront a while back, but nothing new and interesting popped out, just more nude Telsia and Alexandra mods. Anything especially awesome you can point me at?
Comment has been collapsed.
I thought only EF2 hade a filefront page?
Anyway, guess it's been a while since I checked in too. Because there isn't, as you say, many new mods on the horizon for EF. But the RPG-X community at last-outpost.net is still alive and well :)

Sacrifice, a real old jewel. I don't know how many hours I have played it. I still have an original in my physical copy crate.

Heart Of Darkness, Awesome game that I finished some years ago, and finished again, and again. Good Times in My Childhood. "What's Your Name? Amigo! Amigo What ? Amigo Amigo."

Fire Emblem is a known game...
And Aquaria? Have you ever heard about Humble Bundle? I'm pretty sure a lot of people talked about it when it was part of the bundle =P
Comment has been collapsed.
Not really. Aquaria SHOULD be more popular because it was in a bundle but of all those people who bought the bundle, only a few played it. If you don't believe me you can check the global achievements stats in Steam or Raptr.
And when people talk about great games that were part of bundles they never name Aquaria. Getting a game in a bundle doesn't make it intrinsically popular. An when I tell people that it's an awesome game and they should play it, the answer I get is "But it's too girly :(" and they go shave themselves so they can feel like manly men.

Rolling Thunder a very frustrating, but awesome game!

That is true :P Glad someone here remembers it...I broke quite a few NES controllers back in the day with this one.

I played it in the arcade too, and damn did it eat the quarters. Just couldn't break the machine...as much as I wanted to at times XD

Shit I got that one on Steam and it totally rocks. BF play style on a Star Wars universe hell yeah shut up and take my money.

Mirror's Edge nobody?
Seriously, many people know this game

Played GX with my brothers. They'd build A and B rated machines with the best (and heaviest) parts availible, resulting in huge unwieldy behemoths like "Almagest"... which I referred to as the "Shitty Brick". Meanwhile, I built an ultra-light "Windy Manta" out of C and D rated parts that could outmaneuver anything.

I think the one I played the crap out of that I rarely hear people mention would be Phantasy Star Online. I got a keyboard for my dreamcast just for that.
Virtual On was another one of those sega titles that I rarely hear mentioned that was epic fun.
Ramparts.

In that case, I'll just leave this here for you...

I used to sit down at a Virtual On machine at the local arcade. Two bucks would serve me for -hours-. Other people would come in on the other seat to challenge me, and I'd knock 'em out with no trouble. One guy burned a twenty trying to take me down. I was eight.

For me this would have to be Darkest of Days, had it on Xbox awhile back. Have never heard it mentioned by ANYONE, so weird. A good game, altho I let someone borrow it then moved away right after I got it :P. Working on trying to get it on PC now, would really enjoy finishing the campaign. What about you guys? Are there any games you think are amazing, but have somehow noticed seem to not exist?
