I've been seeing a lot of crap around about Syndicate. Everyone hates on the how Ubisoft has its own DRM and talks about how bad Unity was. However, I recently picked up Assassin's Creed II for $5 on sale and it is amazing.

Instead of crapping all over the forums, talk about the good in Ubisoft. If you don't like a game, no one said you have to buy it.
I feel like whenever people talk about games on this and other sites, it's negative.

Thanks for reading :)
And here, have Assassin's Creed: Black Flag

It's actually Pirates of Black Cove, a game that you that you used to be able to get for free at dlh.net

i used to like ubisoft a lot but now... :|
i don't care about uplay that much but releasing unfinished games and milking their franchises just made me not like them as much as i used to.
and i think you've seen my thread about syndicate:
syndicate-pricing
we have to pay $80 for this game (and Siege),while the minimum wage in canada is the same as USA :| $80 is just too much and as i said it's the first time i'm seeing a pricing like this!

Minimum wages mean nothing. Where does this nonsense come from?

The good in Ubisoft would be some of their games. Valiant Hearts was excellent, Far Cry 3 was really good, Anno 2070 was also really good. The Assassin's Creed series always disappointed me, they were not horrible, but they just felt a bit undercooked.

But why all the hate? Apart from the DRM, Ubisoft is one of those companies that would rather cover their mistakes with a blatant & obviously lie than actually admit that they've done something wrong. And when their games don't get the reviews they want, they claim that it is because you don't understand the game/you need to spend a lot more time with it (I have some vague memory of them claiming that you need to spend 30h with their games in order to fully get them. Considering their games don't tend to have 30h of content, that's a silly statement and considering when they made it, it sounded an awful lot like they just tried to cover their own backs with a lie... again).

I love having to wait for 5 minutes each time I want to play Child of Light :) Their client is so necessary and useful... I definitely couldn't live without it and the 5 minutes before (and after) playing ^^

Sadly necessary note: that was sarcasm

did you contact support about this or googled it? because obviously most people don't have problems like that. so maybe it can be fixed.

I have to wait for the client to load, then synchronization, then updates, then looking for my saved games...

so you mean, the main problem is your very slow internet connection? because for others this takes only a few seconds. except when there is a big update, but there is not an update every day... ^^

"If you don't like a game, no one said you have to buy it."
You generally need to have bought a game to play it and find out if you don't like it, unless you're cryptically endorsing piracy. :P

I was wondering this myself for quite some time now.
I had more problems with Steam and Steam Support than I had with Origin + UPlay + Galaxy + Desura all together.
Ubi has issues. No question about it. It has an obsession with DRMs and piracy and that hurts them a lot. But Uplay has come a long way and it's nowhere near the original always online client it was years ago. And they have good support to. Every time I needed them I got my problem fixed in 24 hours, unlike 2 weeks to 1 month with Steam support. And since they got the live chat, it's even better.

The only problems I had with Ubisoft and Uplay were due to the fact that (and this a big downside for Uplay) it cannot activate a game with DLCs if you already own the base game so you need to go through support. Other than that, I hate the fact Ubisoft Store search engine sucks. But that's about it.

I also like Ubisoft games and they do have some of my favorite game series ever.

So somehow I guess some people like to have Ubisoft like some like to have Apple or Microsoft and so on. Just haters gone hate.

I had trouble with their client not too long ago. While playing Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon it kicked me from all online servers and aspects. This remained down for nearly a week and a half. Since I was playing single player I didn't think much of it. After beating the game I realized none of the uPlay Actions triggered. The achievements popped, but not the actual uPlay Actions which give you reward points to buy in-game things like maps, skins, etc. After contacting Support, they said if I could prove I achieved those things they would manually unlock them for me and give me my points. After beating the game a second time (I don't know why I wanted my 50 points so badly :p ) I took screenshots of everything for proof. Support went to unlock everything manually, and successfully did so. Now, 1 of the 4 Actions is back to being untriggered so my Actions and points are all screwed up again.

Eh, they tried, but it's just so bad...

Uplay sucks, their games are usually not pc optimized and they tend to screw over their users by letting them use UPLAY TOO IF THEY BUY THEIR GAME ON STEAM GRGRGRGR

Never had issues with UPlay, own all AC games (except for Unity and Liberation HD which I'm waiting for better deals on), both Rayman games, Valiant Hearts, Child of Light, Splinter Cell Conviction and Blacklist, and Watchdogs.
