Well, not so long ago I changed my Microsoft email password as I used the same everywhere, so I decided it would be safer to do so. Later, I logged of and when I tried to log in, I couldn't write it well, so tired of trying I tried to use the "send a code to your phone" option to log in and change it again. They didn't send anything, so I tried with the "send a link to another email option" but they didn't send anything either to my other email that was already linked. I tried with the security question (this email is from when I was little, so I don't even know what I wrote, as I tried to answer with what it should be but it didn't work) and seeing as I couldn't do anything, I tried to do the questionary.

I wrote my name, my birthdate (I don't know if you needed to be 18 to make the email, so I don't know if I wrote the proper year), wrote the only email subject I remembered since I barely send any emails, and my girlfriend and my brother's directions. I couldn't write anything on the Xbox Live questions since I don't have an Xbox. After sending the questionary, they sent me an email to my other direction saying that it was not enough information and that they had blocked my account for security reasons.

I decided that it was time to say goodbay to my old childish account, and changed the email everywhere. But now is when the funny part comes. Turns out that in order to play Batman and saving the game, I need to be logged in GFWL (The key was already used in my account). Is there anything I can do? I doubt I could reuse the key, do I have to buy the game again?

TL,DR: my email was blocked, can't log in GFWL, can't play Batman.

I can acces the email from my phone app (it seems they didn't block that), but it only shows the emails I've sent from there (the only one subject I could write), but I can't do anything from there.

BTW: Why the fuck my username had to be "LovelyClover"?

The new update for Arkham City has apparently removed GFWL login requirements.

Has anybody tried that yet? I'd like to know if it's working now, or still in the process of being removed.

That is the thread I watch for news, but the guy on page 9 said GFWL is still there for him. I was just hoping it had been removed since his post. Hurry up WB, I want to play my games.

Well, I guess I'll just have to wait then.

Then I guess mine hasn't updated yet. Do you know if they did it too with Asylum? I've already beaten it, but I don't like the idea of not being able to play it again.

Nope, it seems that it's up to date, and if I don't log in, I can't save the game.

I guess WB Games are desperate to try and end the customer support nightmare that has been GFWL.

Try twitter. This is bad press, and companies hate bad press. Especially after Electronic Arts made such a mess of their loyal Sim City fans.

There are also fake xlive.dll files going around. These work similar to the Steam cracks that are available in pirated copies. Your PC security is your own responsibility, so use with caution.

It is always safer to purchase another copy, and Arkham Asylum/City GOTY are often available at a huge discount.

I feel sorry for you, being screwed over by that unnecessary GFWL DRM layer. One DRM is all we need, and that is Steam. Multiple layers means multiple failure points. Everybody wants to be a better Steam.

Microsoft themselves admit that GFWL sucks.

I sent them a tweet, but I preffer to wait as it seems they're going to take it away before using those methods. Thanks anyway.

I have heard you can use local profiles and/or disable connections to the internet done by GFWL. I have not tried to do this, but I may be forced to so I can play my legally purchased Fallout 3 and my boxed copy of Viva Pinata. They betrayed me and have told me that I can't do a thing about it. Long story short they want me to accept the new terms of service agreement, but to do so I need the parent account to do so (that parent account was deactivated). While I could myself since I am 19 and GFWL knows that, it refuses to let me verify my age and go through the transition until I accept the TSA. Also does anyone remember when they tried to charge people a monthly fee to use it's online features like Xbox Live, what a joke.

I know what you feel. I created an offline profile to play Arkaham Assylum and while I was far away form the beggining, I remembered I had a Microsoft profile I could use for achievement. Big mistake, it deleted my save game and had to start since the beggining.

Same here. I'm now stuck with 2 GFWL games on my Steam acc which are registered to a lost GFWL account.

I hope GFWL will die. The sooner the better.

Losing an account is your fault not theirs

When their retrieving options don't work, they have some kind of fault.

You said tyourself you didn't even know if you used the right details. If you set up your account with dud details still the users fault.

I mean the phone and the email one. I know my questionary was shit, but before I asked here, I asked some friends, that had tried it, and they told me to say good bye to it as none have been able to retrieve it using that method. I used my real details, maybe they were wrong, but most probably they weren't. I assume they were since they said they weren't enough and blocked it.

You don't have enough details to verify you own the account so they aren't giving it you. You'd rather they just allowed any pleb in who phoned them up and claimed to be you when said account could well have saved credit card details.

Well, I did write all the passwords I had used, the only subject I remembered (I barely send any emails), the directions I've send emails to, my birthdate (which I don't see any reason for not using my real one at the time, unlike other sites like Nintendo were you needed to be of certain age to register). I don't want they allow any pleb to claim it, I want them to not ask for a blood sample to retrieve it. Oh, and I want their other options to work, I had to do the questionary since I was trying the other options for a while and none of them worked.
